They definitely snuck the metal in here and there, but overall, I wouldn't say so. Great fucken band.

I think they started out pretty metal. Compare some songs offa Facelift with some early Armored Saint. I think they got more grungy and oddly their heavier work on Dirt seems less metal than some of Facelift. Definitely an amazing band.

Facelift and Dirt are borderline metal but not completely, Jar of Flies is Alternative, so my answer is no. I will say that they are the best band to ever come out of Seattle imo.

Dirt is obviously their masterpiece, and anyone who disagrees is a tad skewiff and probably likes random encounters in public toilets with strange men named Sparkle.

And no, they aren't metal. Grunge/alternative rock with metal elements.
