America's greatest metal artists

Metallica seems to be in everyone's list. I guess they were the most influential metal band from America, but certainly not the greatest.

AIC is one of my favorite bands of all-time but I'm not so sure they're metal.

Down isn't better than Pantera... and Pantera is number one.

An argument could be made for Judas Iscariot, one of the original USBM bands. The fact that every other USBM act covers them must say something about their influence.
