why do people like Darkthrone?

How anyone can claim that "Under A Funeral Moon" and "Transilvanian Hunger" are boring is beyond me, though..

They use minimalism to great effect. Hypnotic repetition of harmonic themes producing cold, beautiful and epic atmospheres.

Don't forget Soulside Journey. One of the finer old-school DM albums.

The TH production its not raw, its terrible, the snare drum sound its annoying as fuck

The production on "Transilvanian Hunger" is not at all terrible. The soundscapes created by the minimalistic, melodic-in-a-strange-way riffing would not even be present if TH had a clean production. TH is a good example of an unorthodox production close to perfection. In my opinion.

I love Darkthrone.....I think their music is amazing, and at their worst I think they're a great band. Can't wait to get my hands on the leaked Sardonic Wrath.

There's no excuse for liking the song Transilvanian Hunger and not the rest of that album, or indeed many other Darkthrone tracks. TH isn't even the catchiest/best song on that album I don't think.

Just liking that song says to me it's actually the only one you've given the time of day to. >:[ Damn you manuel, damn you under a funeral moon.

i love darkthrone, and anybody claiming their production to be bad is a retard. compare their production with that of almost any goregrind band(there are obviously exceptions, duh). darkthrone probably had the best black metal production at the time and still do.
