ah some times when soloing i'm bending waaay to much that a 9 string can't handle it..
.. no, thats not true at all.. in fact its actually less likely that you will break a thinner string from bending then a fatter one(Due to the string tension being much higher in 11's that i play with.).
I kill about 2 e-strings a month because i bend so deep, it never happened when i played thinner strings.
IF you break a string from bending to much, it will break really close to the ball as opposed to breaking in the saddle.
Had this issue too with my Epiphone Les Paul.
But the strings sometimes allready broke during putting the strings on
I started to buy another e string to each pack because I didn't knew what was going on...one time broke even the seperate one broke too lol
Eventually after 3 or so changes it stopped. Guess the bridge wasn't sharp enough anymore
That sound _REALLY_ weird. o,0
Never heard of that happening due to burr's or bad strings.. i can however imagine it happening with shit strings like D'Aquisto.
Seriously, i tried a pack of them once.. the strings where oxidized from factory.
A pointer to you guys who tend to break E-strings due to overbending(Like i do.): Buy Rotosound.
You get an extra E-string, and the quality is really damn close to D'Addario.
They loose the new string sound faster and don't keep tuning as well, but at home i really dont find it to make a huge difference.
