Why is this Kayo Dot album gay?

i agree .... and I completely worship MOTW ... but Kayo Dot is fag shit

I don't know why you bought it. But then again I don't know why you hate power metal but love Bal-Faggoth.

Kayo Dot > all but 3 albums since 2000.

i must say that I am still looking for that one "common denominator" that makes me understand J's tastes ... because they are certainly not consistent.

Well, he doesn't know his own taste really. There was a time when he loved electronica era Ulver and Radiohead, but he'll never own up to it these days. :loco:

and like I said, while I agree that KD is fag stuff, ... honestly, I would have though this stuff would be right up his alley.

<<and I completely worship MOTW ... but Kayo Dot is fag shit>>

I've seen this from at least a dozen people, and it has me more baffled than anything in their music...while KD is radically different from MOTW, I can only guess at the reasons why one would worship MOTW but despise it, except for supposed pretentiousness and impatience with the slower sections...

not pretentiousness, just liked the eerie spooky feeling of MOTW combined with the crunch

I actually never loved electronica Ulver or Radiohead. I somewhat enjoyed Perdition City and Kid A (and some of The Bends), but I never understood the constant praise both bands receive. Classic? No f'n way. More annoying than anything.

Bal-Sagoth doesn't have fag vocals. The "narrator" vocals are a bit much, but better than any falsetto shits. Plus, I like sci-fi.

I've never heard any MotW, but after listening to Kayo Dot, I never want to. THe only reason I bought it was out of curiosity, and because it was cheap. Plus, I figured I could break even with selling it if I didn't like it. Plus, risks are more fun than homosexual downloads.

Ok, J .... try this on for size ... a MOTW track:
www.kidlines.com/temp/01.mp3

you have been already scarred with the fruitiness of KD but MOTW is so fucking great ... atmospherics and heaviness BM bands can only dream of coming up with.

crank this fucker ...

There is a world of difference between Kayo Dot and motW. maudlin is the reality, Kayo Dot is the lucid dream. Honestly it took me ages to get into KD, but always loved maudlin. Now I'm at the point where I find maudlin the primitive baby steps that lead up to Choirs of the Eye. But still love it all. :headbang:

Dude, Max, you haven't heard maudlin? OMFG dude you would sooooooooo cream your panties over Bath and Leaving Your Body Map.

SOMEBODY HOOK A BROTHER UP!!!!!

And dude, by the way, I had to go to New Hampshire on Saturday against my will and without any warning, so your money will go out immedietly when I get home (just so you know).

Let me know what you want and I'll hooka joo up, I can fit probably 10 albums in mp3 on a CD-R. Bath, LYBM, and Choirs of the Eye are on the list right now.

EDIT: Ohhh shizzle and probably some Future Sound of London, what with your gay Ulver man love.

I must be feeling the insertion of man meat up my colon because KD is easily one of the best CDs I've ever owned. "From a whisper to a scream" is an apt description. Is it for people with no sense of adventure? Absolutely not, but I can see why its not for everyone. it possesses a sense of daring, a willingness to take risks. If you had asked me four years ago if this description would fit me, I would have brayed mightily with laughter...everytime I listen to this, I get something new out of it. I can't wait til October for them to come through Columbus, and then the new one out early next year!

and actually, I can see where this is an extension of where MOTW was headed. While they were more traditionally metal, there were also quiet passages of surpassing beauty...

Heaven and Weak....omg what a fucking masterpiece. NAD YOU FUXXOR@#$^

I think both bands suck ass equally. They both seem more interested in being different and experimental, than in writing good songs. I actually think I prefer Bathory to these two shitfests.:loco:

BAL-SAGOTH have now locked themselves away to concentrate all efforts towards the completion of the sixth album, spurning all extraneous human contact until such time as the sacred task is fulfilled. Any and all prior engagements and previous commitments will be ruthlessly forsaken until the opus is finally complete.

three and a half minute songs are indeed not the point.
Song length isn't my issue. My favorite song in '04 was Iced Earth's "Gettysburg 1776" which was 31+ minutes, and in '03 it was "The Odyssey" by SX at roughly 24 minutes. By problem is that the songs come off as incoherent. Granted, I haven't spent a great deal of time with their CDs, but I haven't felt compelled to either.

Hey, I recognize that there are those around here who think these cats are the shit. That's cool. Different strokes for different folks.
