Whether you use EZD or just put the samples in your own thing, the DFHS samples kick ass. Nothing holds a candle to any of the DFHS samples, in my opinion, when talking about whole drumkit sample packages. Only way to make better would be to find Andy's samples and throw those in there as well...

Gaah!

Some of us can't get to the buggers!

Let's keep it in things we can download off the internets! Have you any idea how hard it is to get a drummer and his kit through a series of tubes between computers?

Is that a plug or a sample set? I run Cubase SL 3 so I am looking for VST stuff.
dfhs is a vst instrument, the samples aren't accessible outside of the plugin unless you program a few hits and record the hits then cut the hits out of the wave file

but yeah, you send midi signals to the vst, the vst outputs the sounds, like any other vst. it really is worth every penny. sometimes i use drumagog and route it to a midi track, and bus the midi track to DFHS, then use the samples from DFHS to replace bad sounding drums. takes some practice to make it fit with the overheads, but it can be done.

Real drums, real drummer. Although the sample sets these days are getting quite good, they still can't hold a candle to the real thing.

I don't necesarrily agree with that. It all depends on who's programming.

On Oz's point of using the real drummer, nothing beats the "personality" of a real drum, I totally sympathise with the issue , but if you've got a great guitar riff+vocals+bass lines with a click track - it deserves a real drummer.

its worth the time to get hold of a drum (yep even hire) and record them in the best studio you can afford and complete the other parts at your own studio.
