WOODS Touring in 2009: The West is the Best @ the 'End of August'!

^ Sweet! I can't believe this is only my first time seeing you guys live (though I did manage to see Gates and meet what is now half the band). Fact that I haven't seen some Woods classics like "Meeting Place" is just not right! All shall be corrected tonight. Already got my Woods shirt on, I won't be hard to miss :kickass:

We left the North, crossed the SSM International Bridge, the Mackinac Bridge, the 45th Parallel, the Blue Water Bridge, played the CHAOS METALFEST in St. Thomas Ontario, sold a ton of "FUCK THE SUN" t-shirts then drove straight home all night. Drive, play the show, drive. The show was great! Special thanks to Scotty, SYLVUS and TERRORHORSE. Bass recording resumes tonight, after a well needed afternoon sleep.

Man, that show was 20% garbage (due to no fault of the bands or audience) and 80% awesome. Still a great time playing with the Woodsfolk and thanks to Dauden and MickSickle for coming out!

Zakk- Sylvus

For sure Zakk! After all these years, it was also the first time that Sylvus and Woods played a show together. The turnout at these kinds of things (a metalfest in a smaller town, outside of a big city...during a recession) could almost always be better, but it was still a blast to be a part of! For the Woodsmen and I, it was still worth 16 hours of round-trip travel to blacken & doom a new Ontario town for an hour on stage.

Zakk - now we need to hook up a Toronto show together!

:kickass:

What a bloody fantastic show! My neck is still killing me. Sucks that everything got started so late, but ah well. Was great to finally see Terrorhorse and Woods live for the first time, and Sylvus for the first time since 2006! I had a fucking blast during the Woods set, safe to say I was going the most insane I think, lol. Sucks about the turnout, but when you consider how bonedry the rest of downtown St. Thomas was on a Saturday night, maybe not that bad afterall. Oh, and PS, the two new Woods songs I got to hear, both were very doomy (not that he whole album necessarily will be), gigantic and HEAVY, and each with a couple of solid beefy riffs. Does not disappoint! :kickass:

There really needs to be a huge folk/black/viking/etc. Ontario metal show in TO with Woods, Sylvus, Bolero, Will of the Ancients, Wolven Ancestry, Battlesoul... damn this province knows how to make 'em!

There have been shows like that before. Battlesoul, Bolero and WOTA toured in April.

And, this August- Wolven Ancestry and WOTA are touring Eastern Canada and Sylvus is playing the Toronto show with a couple other bands too. :kickass:

Neck snappin show indeed, feels great to abuse my guitar with all who decided to come out. The woods 4 album is sure to be something new and i couldnt be more happy to be doin it with DG, Shane-saw, and E-mads. Big Brodie you made my night \w/

See you soon!

Home from Tour. We left Victoria on Wednesday night, drove straight to Winnipeg where we stopped for a sleep, then finished the brutal Winnipeg to Sault Ste. Marie drive last night, arriving at about 7 am on Saturday. We are proof that you CAN tour ALL of Canada as an independent metal band in one summer...and that you can drive across all of Canada, coast-to-coast, in less than 70 hours combined (we drove home from Victoria just now, we drove straight home from Halifax in May).

I lost all my amp cables (pointlessly stolen?), lost my favourite pair of jeans somewhere, got our van windows smashed in by some nazi black metal band in Vancouver, and came home with a brutal cold in my lungs and we all look like death... But man, tour was a blast!!! It feels like we've done a year's worth of living crammed into two weeks. We were all exhausted by the end of it, but I miss it already today. We had the good fortune of meeting so many kind people, saw old friends, made new ones, ate, drank and performed our hearts out every night until there was nothing left of us, only to wake and do it all again for 14 days. We have fond memories of the Western Canada.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to a show, put us up for the night or treated us to a meal. You helped make a great experience that much easier.

To all those who always promise to come out to a show, but never do...maybe next time (but probably not...).

We are now booking some one-off shows throughout the year and then our Canada / USA tour for summer 2010.

There's so much happening...lots to do. Thank you all very much again! You guys made us feel great out there!

More soon,

David Gold - \w/
