hm...I think the thin sound fits the riffing quite good
Maybe it's because my overall perception of Slayer is like that (not ment offensive, you guys know that, it's just my opinion), so that's why I think the production fits and it sounds good too me.

Slayer is the best band of all time. Even though they haven't put out anything great since 1994.

I remember a long thread about this same album 2 years ago or so...I don't remember who asked "do they play strats now?" but man, he was right on
I don't like the production, they're using the same gear guitar wise that's on god hates us all for example, and what happened? the record is bone dry too.
The only thing I like about how it's mixed are the vocals. The bass could be non existant so we'll stop hearing subsonic farts on certain spots, the drums, while sounding natural and really nice, don't fit those ugly guitars.
God what were they thinking about the guitars? it sounds like wimpy single coils most of the time, and I've never heard a marshall sounding that bad in my whole life...in the GW interview they said guitars were 3 amps at once,each mic'ed differently.

To my defense: Im having a flue right now, so that maybe also has effect on my perception...
also got DESTROYED with reign in blood, since it was the ONLY CD our humble neighbors at Metalacamp 2008 had in their car.
I was hammered most of the time, but after 3 days it got a BIT annoying
So Im not neutral on that CD at all to begin with

Had never even listened to this before now - truly awful sound. Some kick ass songs though, it is a real shame.
Could not agree more dude. when ever i talk metal with people and that album comes up theres always that one asshole who tries to defend it. It fucking sucks. i mean, i love Tom Araya, but shit. Even Metallica had some duds (Load, ReLoad, St. Anger) and Megadeth ( The World Needs a Hero, most of Risk)
