Worship music leaked

I think it might be fair to say that In the End could possibly become my all time Favourite Anthrax song.

What an utterly epic & very emotional song this one is.

My Dad passed away last year and I think of him when I listen to this song.

I’ve been jamming to this record pretty much every chance I could since I got hold of it on Monday. I was blown away at the first listen, and now after multiple spins my love of this record has only grown. As a matter of fact it has grown so much I have to make a change to what I said on my first review, when I said that this record may be the best Anthrax record yet. I would have to say that Worship Music IS the best record Anthrax has ever made.

I’ve heard things like, “this sounds like AIC,” or “this sounds like Bushthrax,” “or this sounds poppy,” or “Joey is the weak link,” and a bunch of other crap. First and for most this album SOUNDS LIKE ANTHRAX! Secondly, and this is coming from someone who is a long time fan, but admittedly is a bigger fan of the Bush era --- Joey is singing his fucking balls off on this record, as a matter of fact I would have to say that I don’t think it would have been a better disc with John singing.

Joey’s range on this disc, and I don’t mean from just song-to-song, but from verse-to-verse, and in some cases from one line to the next is amazing. From the sweeping power metal highs --- that at some times makes me think of Dio himself, to the growling lows.

It’s like he sang on this whole album, filled with piss ’n vinegar. This album just kicks so much fucking ass.

Some people have said the album's repetitive, but I don't hear it. I think there is a simular chordal progression in I'm Alive, Hym 1 and places on In the End but still not the same. Every song is different. I love it, my Missus loves it and my Boyz love it. We're a Happy Anthrax Family

Hmyn 1 doesn't count as a song IMO

Anyway my fav songs are In the End, Earth on Hell, and probably I'm Alive. But I love it all.

After listening to Crawl a bunch, I completely understand why Charlie keeps telling that story about the hairs on his arms standing up when hearing it, it's an amazing song.

my fav songs are:

1) The Giant
2) Fight 'Em Til You Can't
3) Crawl
4) The Devil You Know
5) Earth On Hell
6) I'm Alive

in that order

"in the end" is a great song but I think it has a couple of minutes more and it bored the final 2 minutes

"The Constant" i like but not too

"Revolution" Screams" i like but not too

"judas priest" I hate this song, can not stand for more than 1 minute .. not have good riff, boring the only thing I like are the first 40 seconds after the take off

Sorry about your dad mate. And yes it is such an emotional song and really it could be about any loved one we've lost.

Truly amazing song. I get goosebumps just listening to that opening riff.

Here is to your old man too!

I don't hate "Judas Priest", but I'll have to admit that it's my least favourite tune on the album. However, it's my least favourite tune on an album that consists of absolutely fantastic songs.

Manthatfollowshell: I think I agree with you. The album has grown on me immensly, and I'm starting to think that, to me, it's the best one the band has released.

Thanks mate. Believe or not, he liked Anthrax too. He saw them with me in 1990. He picked up POT on the way home from work for me when it came out.

Yes, anyone that has lost someone close can relate to the song.

ive listened to album a few times, standout tracks are earth on hell,in the end, judas priest, crawl, cant say i dontlike any tracks, the giant and the constant i have neglected only because its nera the end of album lol.

So the moral is that it is OK to steal if you wait long enough....shame on you!

T:)

I have been listening to this a lot lately. I am kind of 50/50 on it. I think some people may be over reacting with the 'this is the best Anthrax album of all time' stuff. I think some of it is pretty good while some of it is semi boring and monotonous. There is no way this album can come close to the calibur of POT or ATL but is it better than any of the John Bush era album? Maybe... not sure if its better than SOWN... time will tell for me

Best Anthrax album of all time? Not even close. PoT/AtL are both better. I think even SoE is probably a better album as a whole.

Best album since PoT? Without a doubt. Better than SoWN, if for no other reason, Belladonna is doing the vocals and he has a much better range than Bush. Even excluding the Belladonna vs. Bush arguments, I believe it is better. Earth on Hell is much better than anything off of SoWN, as is Judas Priest and In the End. Most of the other songs are better than anything off of SoWN as well.

It does destroy any album after SoWN though. Stomp, WCFYA.....all of them pale in comparison to this album.

Its not all I wanted from Anthrax. I do want them to return to their roots even more and, if they do release another album with Joey on vocals, I think they just might. No, this is not it but its a solid start.

One thing I do find absolutely hilarious is some of the vocals that Belladonna does in the lower register on this album. He nails them and shows that he could have done the vocals SoWN, Stomp and all the other Bush-era albums just as well as Bush. His lows are just as strong as Bush's and Bush can not come close to his range.

That being said, I do not ever....EVER....want to see a GoTE 2 album because even with Belladonna singing, those albums are about 95% trash.

I suppose people like Anthrax for different reasons (in addition to the known fact that people prefer different "versions" of the band). Some people like the band for the break neck speed characterising most of the music on their earlier releases, some like slower paced stuff and some like it all.

I am amongst the latter.

Some of the criticism that has been directed towards the band has been the percieved drop in quality songwriting on the later releases. I kind of agree. In my opinion, there are not that many gems on Vol.8 and Stomp. However, I think that has changed with WM. I think it's a solid album all the way through, with well written, well structured and brilliantly arranged songs. There are no silly numbers like Toast, no cover tunes that - though quite good - break the flow and mood of the album, like Got the Time.

In additition, I consider the album to be a blend of all the things that I like about Anthrax - be it thrash numbers, slow and heavy riffing, melodic emphasis, good lyrics (I've always found those lyrics about Judge Dredd a bit daft) and really strong performances from the entire band.

Thus, this is an Anthrax album that truly stands out for me. There are others as well, off course.

I'm not quite sure yet. It's still early days and all, but yeah. This could very well become my favourite Anthrax album.

With emphasis on my favourite. Not the universally best Anthrax album. That's up to no one to decide.

They didn'y make this album for you now did they, they made it for themselves. Just like every album since Fistfull.
