The late '90s and early '00s was a special time in shitty popular music -- arguably its most 'extreme'. Nu-metal, metalcore, the superstardom of Metallica... it was COOL to be HEAVY! Let us honor the many brainlessly catchy 'extreme radio-metal' hits that were mercilessly driven into our heads at this time of history. It should provide a lot of laughs.

To kick things off... GIMME FEW, GIMME FAH, GIMME DABAJABAZAAAA

I've heard this been labeled as nu-metal or rap-metal.

I remember being perplexed by Crazytown being labeled as metal. Funny anecdote: a gay friend of my wife used to deal cocaine, and when Crazytown stopped through on a tour, he loaded the lead singer up with blow and then made hot man-love to him (I can't confirm this as a fact, but it's a great story nonetheless).

Oh man I can name several bands. I actually saw/sat through these bands at past ozzfests hahaha.
Union Underground

Motograter

Mudvayne

Mushroomhead

And last but not least the dreadful coal chamber

The most annoying hit of all time, had to be fucking germans.

Surprised that no one has posted any Slipknot yet...

I can't see what videos are posted due to being at work, but this shit is all nostalgic and I unabashedly adore revisiting the "angry ball chain necklace" days of yesteryear. I had all but forgotten Coal Chamber, I actually bought one of their CDs and had a huge crush on Meegs.

<3333 Grant for making this thread. Let's hang out when I move back to America and get stoned and rock out to this stuff and videotape it and then post it on here.

I have to say, of the many incarnations of shitty popular "rock" genres, this one was probably my favorite. Much better than Nickelback/ballads/emo/faux-indie.

I sometimes genuinely believe rock has died or is dormant like a volcano, and is now the sole province of "retro," "extreme metal," or "indie"

Wow, what a response. I've picked one song at random so far, the Mudvayne one, and was wtfing my ass off

Rammstein: sorry but they're legitimately awesome. Du Hast is a classic, noob.

Coal Chamber: I was briefly exposed to them in college and was slightly amused if not terribly impressed, but fortunately that led me to discover the awesomeness that was DevilDriver's debut album.

@Laura sounds like a plan. Let's be sure to periodically have one person put their face six inches from the camera and scream into it while the other bangs their head frantically in random directions in the background.

This is another style altogether but still gay and still in the 90s as far as I know.

I agree with people defending Rammstein, they don't deserve to be in this thread and they're easily best out of the things posted.
