worst of '07

IMO 2007 was a great year for metal;

These are the albums I didn't like much

Manowar - Gods of War (boring, boring....)
Nile - Ithyphallic (not bad, but I was expecting more)
Behemoth - Apostasy (just like Nile)

Good year overall, but I was disappointed by a few:

Municipal Waste - Art of Partying - Liked it at first, but then realized I'd rather listen to Hazardous Mutation whenever I listen to the Waste

Watain - Sworn to the Dark - Somebody said something about Dissection worship so I checked it out. Not really bad, just not really anything special.

Machine Head - The Blackening - Really, what's the big deal? Again, checked it out based on recommendations, and thought it was generic.

yea i disagree with the blackening comments, that album rocked!

I think the worst album is Down III...all those seasoned musicians and they produce the most boring piece of shit i've ever heard.

Down 3 was great the first couple of spins but started sucking quickly. Phil's voice is extremely irritating for the first time. I still love NOLA and II tho'.

Definitely one of the year's worst I've heard.

You sure you downloaded the right one?

^ The Blackening is a great album. Major disappointments for me were Paradise Lost, Alcest, and Strapping Young Lad.

The Blackening is in my top 3 this year. SYL didn't come out with an album btw.

Yeah, next to Vital Remains and Daath, Down III is the worst album I've heard this year. I'm pretty sure the worst album this year is Ozzy's record, but I'm never going to buy that thing (or listen to it).

The new PS is incredile and their best album hands down.

Down III was disapoiting, but still a good album.

.... and machine head sucks.

Yeah I forgot to mention Daath. What's wrong with Kevin Talley? First Chimaira, now Daath - wasting his talent on all these mediocre roadrunner bands.

And I loved Down III. It's not really a metal record, it's got that blues to it.

I really, really enjoyed the new Vital Remains - though to be honest, they could do with being a bit more critical in the editing process and cut the song length of most tracks by at least a third.:kickass:

They messed that up on Dechristianize and it didn't change much on the new one. Same mistake twice, but I suppose they've decided the formula works for now and wasn't just an experiment, so I can't really expect much from them in the future. Not sure how much more I'd actually care even if they did trim the fat a bit.

Debauchery's Back In Blood was easily not only one of the shittiest albums I've heard this year, but it's easily one of the worst records I've ever heard in my life. just fucking abyssmal

two kinda odd choices

I thought both albums were much stronger than their predecessors (s/t and Le Secret, respectively)- I take it you disagree?

Jeez, I hate that album man. I'm surprised to hear bad things about Ziltoid. I've heard so much good stuff about it. I was planning on buying it the nest time I buy some CDs.

I was expecting Alcest to be much better (considering all the praise they get on here)

Ziltoid was a comical album but good. It's not an album I can listen to all the time and I'm a pretty big fan of Devin Townsend (Ocean Machine, Accelerated Evolution, Synchestra).

Edit: My mistake on previous post. I thought The New Black came out in 07'.
