I quit for 2 years once and it wasn't any problem... The key to quiting (for me) was to have VERY positive reasons to, support from family and friends and being in a positive state of mind... It went great for 2 years and then I lost my positive state of mind and my life basically went to hell in a hand basket... (This can happen to anyone...) I'm trying to rebuild my life but it's really tough... I have so many obstacles to overcome, many that I WON'T be able to overcome but will simply have to learn to live with... All of that compounds the difficulty in quitting smoking... (Quitting smoking isn't the end goal, btw, but one of many things I want to change in my life...)

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble... Point is, quitting smoking isn't EASY by any means and it's USUALLY because of outside stresses that are REALLY what the person has to work on... That's my experience anyways...

heheh i like arguing :) Contrary to what some others blieve there is more than only ONE person you could marry and have a fulfilling marriage with. If you can deal with a smoker then it doesn't matter. But i am saying that I could not stand to be with someone who smokes. or does drugs. I include all of that in there as the whole addiction thing. Drinking i don't care because unless you're an alcoholic it does little permanent damage to the person. And yeah i've never been addicted to anything (besides the computer and music and Aerials) but those are all things that i wouldn't quit because they're fun and they're not damaging (unless you spend ALL your time doing these htings and end up with no friends). But i can't even remember what the hell i am saying any more because i have a Diploma Exam tomorrow and i should be studying... And of course i'm not perfect, never said i was, but i can describe some of the things that could make a perfect person and joining harmful trends so that you look cool or badass is NOT one of them.

There may be more than one person - but if you knew me and my wife - you wouldn't say that about us. Good luck on your exam - and I'll make sure none of my wifes second hand smoke gets to you. (actually - she smokes in the attic or outside to keep smoke out of the house - considerate, isn't she?)

Ewww, what a disgusting topic. Count this as the first thread that I am personally too repulsed by to participate in (except perhaps to tell you that I am too repulsed to participate, hehe). Don't bother replying to this, I will not read it. Ewww.

thoroughly repulsed,

No, I wouldn't. Same goes for drinking and drugs. I find them all to be repulsive and would definitely consider them a deterrant to dating someone. Smoking has to be the most incosiderate of the bunch though, because it ruins the ability for nearby people to enjoy breathing. Utah may suck for many things, but at least they have a no smoking in public buildings policy. Now, if they could get them away from the entrances, that'd be even better.
