I love damnation, but somehow one totally mellow opeth realease is enough.

Something like a Sörskogen full-length album with Mike and Dan would be great though.

I would love to see more songs in the style of Windowpane. Damnation was too short, considering you really only got six real songs on there. The last two weren't worth all that much to me. I think a Mike solo album would be awesome, if it was stuff like Still day, Patterns II.

wow, currently at---this very second it is--at 27 votes each, 50----/50. Isnt that----amazing. ---yes, it is quite the coincidince----. or maybe---------- its not coincidince and ---- cheetahs changed---- it. i think opeth----- should make a----------------nother album in time------ time----- time--ti--me-----

I'd be more than happy to see another 'Dmanation' out there... AS LONG as it doesn't intefere with the progress of thier more 'important' works. :Smug:

Yes, I want atleast one more. I think that Damnation was fucking amazing, however, I would prefer that Opeth does not release this album in the near future. I want Opeth to evolve more. Every album they change to something, not always better, but to something that was worth taking that next step. I absolutely love every album and I want to hear more, but Opeth isn't going to be around forever. I want to see them do something different and new to all of us. They shouldn't stay with the groove that they have right now. I would definiately like to hear some Steve Wilson/Mikael Akerfeldt side project stuff with them creating the ultimate mellow music, but I don't want that stuff interferring with what Opeth could become. Morningrise, Deliverence, Still Life, and Blackwater Park are my favorites. I like the heavy albums more, but I want to hear more progressive rock from Mikael Akerfeldt. If Mikael makes another "Damnation"ish album, then I am sure that it will be in the future and a side-project of Opeth.

Also, Damnation was a great tool to get people into Opeth. I have got quite a few people into all of Opeth's music by using Damnation. My dad steals Damnation from me all the time. Its kinda ironic because he always tells me to "turn that crap off" whenever I listen to any other opeth albums. -_-

to expl, ain my answer: i like damnation, some of the stuff is really catchy, some is more deep. it's a good mix, but damnation in itself is pretty repetetiv...and i dont think another record in that vein is needed. like said before i would appreciate a record with harves, benighted like ballads! that'd be killer!

I am suprised the voting is so close. And yes I would love another mellow record. Its funny though that if you have non-metal tastes and listen to them for a while Steely Dan, Jazz and fusion in my case you come back to Damnation and it still sounds metal. Those harmonies and progressions still make it metal no matter how clean the vocals are or the lack of distortion etc.
A brilliant piece of brooding acoustic metal is how I would describe Damnation.
The best solution is just combine the two which they do anyway within their more traditional structures. I mean I would have loved to see the album released as a double with a totally mixed up track listing.
I have always been curious about how we would have received that opus.
Wreath followed by Windowpane on a first time listen would have been pretty amazing.

Yes i would like it...Why? because honestly i find Mikael's clean vocals far superior than his heavy "death" vocals...His voice is very very beautiful and id be a very very sad panda if i never got to hear a new record with that style again...Opeth doesnt need to release another Damnation but i would like a record where the growling is not as prevelant!
I completely agree w/this post...except i don't use the term "sad panda" too often. However, "Damnation" was the album that really brought me into the world of Opeth. In most cases, i find growling vocals completely ridiculous, so even though i owned "Blackwater Park," i could only handle 'Harvest.' Once i got "Damnation" i began to truly appreciate what the guys could do musically, and i was able to go back to BWP w/a different perspective. Since then, i have also bought "Still Life" and "Deliverance," and i credit "Damnation" for making that possible.

I would definately like to see another mellow album from Opeth, though i think a 2-3 album break in between is a good idea.

I voted yes. Because the question is about another mellow album - not a another "Damnation". The other reason I think it could be great, is that I can´t see why Opeth would stop maiking albums in any near future. They are all young and if they keep delivering quality music then i can´t see why they could not last another 5-10 years.
And of course I would also like to see them develope their sound quite a bit before releasing a new mellow album.
