I've just heard some of their stuff from "Into The Electric Castle" the first time and I must say it's amazing. It's like all the good aspects of Dream theater minus the gay singer, mindless solo wanking, plus a lot more memorable songs. I really enjoy the female vocals as well.

"Isis and Osiris" is amazing...

Every ayreon album is amazing :) funny you bring it up, i've been on a huge ayreon kick he last few weeks. Into the Electric Castle is my favorite one.

also: it's a "he", not they. It's one guy who writes all the music, then gets guest musicians to do some of the parts.

you've never heard Ayreon before Ermin? wow, that's suprising. Just brace yourself for some pretty cheesy synth sounds and space themes and whatnot. But the cheese just makes it better. Ayreon is probably my favorite prog metal band. The least cheesy one is the Human Equation though, so that might be the best way to ease in.

THE is a fantastic album. It's nice to have such a great progmetalband coming from my country!

...And then comes the praise because Mighty Mike sang on The Human Equation. Just exactly what I was thinking yesterday. Be prepare for another thread named: Jesus fucking christ!!!1!1 The Human Equation rules just 'cuz Mikes sings on it!!11!!
And then the flame: Mike sings better than LaBrie!!! López should've played drums on that record!!!11!! OMG I'M TOTALLY IN LOVE OF THIS RECORD!!!!11!

Bwahahahahahaha!!!!

I have THE..........its aweosme album....and NO ...not jsut coz mickey sings on it....hahaha...I actualyl liek teh main chracter adn his best friend (Arjen's voice ) more.....hahahah....!!!....plus the otehr singers are really good on it too..Mike is good too...but they each bring so much different to the table......anwyayz...good album....PEAC EOUT

Mikael sings in The Human Equation, but so does Dream Theater's James LaBrie, so the topic creator would obviously hate it.

Ayreon is fantastic....creative, enjoyable, escapist music, with some very talented musicians holding everything together. ITEC and THE are easily the best, the Universal Migrator album having some excellent songs, but being too patchy, and the other albums just being kinda...well...dull.

Come on Arjen, enough with Stream Of Passion....bring out a new album soon!

Nah, LaBrie actually sings properly for once on that album, and manages to sound good. Far far better than his DT stuff.

Even without Mikael The Human Equation is literally one of the greatest pieces of concept music ever...it right up there with The Wall, Still Life and Quadrophenia as arguably the greatest concept album ever... The female vocals are heart-wrenching.

I find the Universal Migrator to be less cheesy, no James Labrie. Although Temple of the Cat is the cheesiest song in the world and I hate it!!!

Well, cats were considered almost god-like creatures in ancient Egypt, for example. That song however is about some Aztec jaguar god, if I remember correctly...

I like THE, not because of Mike, but because of how flawlessly written it is.

I don't listen to albums -- I listen to songs. Normally, I'll put in an album, listen to my favorite songs, then go to another one. But with THE, I have to listen to the whole thing. It's just THAT good.

The Human Equation is the LEAST cheezy one? OH MY GOD! That album is the biggest piece of cheese I could imagine. I found next to nothing likeable about that album. Everything is done to total excess, the whole thing drags on forever. Boring, boring, boring. One of the least favorite things I have. I cringe everytime it comes up on shuffle. I actually don't know why I haven't deleted it. I can't begin to fathom why people like this.
