whaaoaoaoaooo dude i'm halfway in and this shit is blowing my miiiiinddd

anybody heard this?

edit: damn that was amazing :kickass:

I bought that Goatsblood blind.

Papa Josh reviewed it for RC saying it was made by folks who huff gas and butt fuck their sisters.

And then Nate the Great and NAD came in to defend the album, so much so that NAD wrote a new review for it.

And that's why I sent him the Rwake promo. :loco:

Never heard of the album or the band. What are they like? I read a MASTODON referrence just now, would that be accurate?

i don't see the resemblance to mastodon much personally, it strikes me as something nad might like though. i would describe it as being some kind of dark, trippy, sludgy mix of stoner-y doom and crust punk (along the lines of dystopia and nausea)...it has that neurosis vibe in places too. probably their most metal-oriented release yet. i expect the vocals are gonna turn a few people off; they (one male, one female) alternate between a cleaner shout and a roar, but it's not that annoying jamey jasta hardcore bark, think more like isis. light up a j and enjoy the samples :kickass:

Hallow Severer
Between Silence and Sound
Identity Defined

I downloaded it a little while because they're playing in Chicago soon (w/ Genghis Tron & Yakuza), and it seems like a show I'd enjoy. Hasn't gotten me really excited yet, but it's good enough to know that it could be a pretty kickass live show (they've got two drummers and girl in the band, so how could it not be?)

It is kind of nice that they can't be easily pigeonholed as having one specific sound to them.

I've poked around it a bit, but haven't had the chance to really delve into it. I keep meaning to though. It seems like lately when I'm at home and have an opportunity to really focus on music, I keep listening to stuff that I already have and know I like instead of exploring the new stuff. I suck.

If you have a large collection of stuff you like and are quite comfortable enjoying (particularly if you "discover" that you own things you like and just don't know it yet), there's no question it's way more productive than continuing to mass a collection of digital or physical dust magnets.
