Write a DT-forum-song!

Shit no wonder ye're complaining! I sent my part to you like 3 moths ago and got no answer!!!

I guess you didn't receive the e-mail or something. The problem now id that you'll have to wait till I get back to CR hehe.

And yeah I tried to revive the thread a few times but no one seemed to care because no one beside me replied.

:ill: bu :zombie:

Right you crazy bastards. I revisited this song the other day and after seeing how happy DT were after someone did a lego video for them, I thought if we actuallly complete this it'll be mint. Basically, I'm going to record some vocals and post it online tonight as I have the house to myself. They won't be good. They'll be funny... But they will be a guide. Any of the cool newbies wanna participate in someway, read through this thread and realise the immensity that almost became. the track still needs bass. I still have the Guitar Pro version with the basic guitar parts in which will of course help.

This thing came so close to completion. I think we should have it.

EDIT: I've done a version with vocals and I'm uploading it now. It's very funny. I'll post the link when it's done. Look at the first post in the thread for the lyrics as tritonus edited her post to include the completed masterpiece.

If people still want to try their hand (or voice?) at vocals. Go for it. let me know in here and when you have them recorded send me a .wav or MP3 file of your vocals and I can drop them in the song for you when I get some spare time.

Not until you try and sing those lyrics with absolute passion do you realise how truly ridiculous they are :p

Following the link at the bottom the song can be downloaded.

The song is completely original but is in polite parody of the mighty Dark Tranquillity. None of the melodies or riffs are ripped off, but they are written very close to the style DT write in. In places the drums use fills close to ones Anders Jivarp originally wrote (the opening fill in punish my heaven for instance). Lyrically it mocks DT's metaphors and ambiguity and in places lexical sets that are semantic with DT are used, but is mainly our imature sex based humour on display. I just did a bad stanne impression on the vocal style.

i'love to participate, too... but the guitar track is already well done, and i cant improvise solos :p. And the only recording equipement i have here is the mic from a pc headphone/mic set.
If i had a bass, i would try to do something, even though i have only played bass on rare occasions :p

... and as usual I have a cold so I can't record shit. But this is quite a seriuos one, I have huge f(*^9 headache :erk:  .

As soon as it's over I'll record since I'm nearly on vacations now :Smokin: :kickass: :headbang: .

It's awesome. :kickass:

Btw, i thought there was going to be female vocals? Or was that another song?

there is a version where tritonus does the spoken word bit, but I was never sent the seperate .wav of vocals for the mix, just a mix down with the vocals.

Well let us know if you do get your hands on a bass, because I think the track needs it to be complete and it would be pretty ace.

Neat, If only I had been here before. OR can I still participate? :D

I don't see why not ;). And as for downloading it, what happens when you try? did you follow the link on Putfile? because you have to follow a couple of links first before you get to the proper DLing page. If you DL it from myspace it saves as a pretty random obscure file type, and the quality isn't very good. EDIT: Although I just realised undo has kindly added a link you can just right click and go 'save as'. Try that :p

I see. I was under the impression there would be actual female singing. Maybe i could try doing the spoken part if you want, but the result will most probably suck. Besides, it's nice with male clean vox as well.

edit: i haven't sleapt and i'm being dumb: what's exactly the problem with the piece tri sent you, why can't you use that one?

Ah well she does the bit I did as spoken word but in a more musical way. What I was sent was only a draft though and then interest in the project seemed to fizzle away so I was never given the final singing part on file. If you would indeed like to do the spoken word bit, all you need is an elektet computer microphone (standard mic on a computer), and then just sit far back and speak up to not get proximity effect when you record. That's all I do for all the vocals (why they're a bit crumby too :p) If you want more tips on recording it, just ask.

@KC: More tips are always welcome. ;) I have a performance microphone too, will have to try both and see which delivers best. I'm more concerned about managing to fit the words with the timing. I guess i'll have to try it a few times and see how crap it can turn out to be. ;)

Yeah, it is kinda hard finding rhythm in those words, as they are just written randomly without attention to rhythm.

And to further clarify the situation with Tritonus' vocals so it doesn't sound like I just left them out without trying to use them, I was only ever sent them in a file where they were performed with the song, so I couldn't drop the vocals in the mix unless I'd done vocals over that version of the song as the final mix, which would negate me from any control of the song's mix and thus I would not be able to put the vocals 'in to' the song, only on top of the song... if you get me. There was also some issues in the production of that version that needed attention.

Thanks man.

And KC, my question about being able to participate is related to the appareance that all of the singing parts are completed already, thus you would probably have to drop other vocalists' contributions in order to include my voice in the final product, which wouldn't be fair to them.

I can't play any instrument unless Cowbell counts as one.

Unfortunately, i dont know anyone who has a bass here :(. I should try to sell my old guitar and amp on ebay, so i get some money to buya bass.
