I think the best produced Xasthur material is A Curse for the Lifeless (Nortt split). That version of Blood From the Roots of the Forest is probably Malefic's finest hour. The split with Leviathan sounds good too. Anything after The Funeral of Being has sufficient production.

Nortt probably sounds better to many because it's a lot roomier. Xasthur feels claustrophobic at times.
