More speciifcally, you need to be in the New York City metro area to fully "get" Seinfeld

I'm sick of hearing that bullshit. They were talking about Seinfeld the other day on TV and some guy said something like "I'm just amazed anyone but a New York Jew would get it." Why the fuck does anyone think that?

The Jewish thing is stupid; anyone can get the overall humor, but I would definitely agree that some of the underlying humor is only funny to NYC-area residents (or people really familiar with NYC).

When Kramer decides to go see downtown, buys an "I love NY" t-shirt and then calls Jerry crying because he's homesick.

The Puerto Rican Day Parade.

Hell, the Marine Biologist takes place at the Hamptons (Long Island)!

Mr. Pitt and the Woody Woodpecker float from the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Kramer deciding to paint over 2 of the lanes on the West Side Highway, which leads to Elaine dropping a sewing machine out of the back of her car, which leads to Newman driving over it, dragging the sparking device through the paint thinner Kramer spilled and catching on fire. x 1 million

there are too many to mention, that's just off the top of my head

One of the very few moments of SHEER BRILLIANCE of television was this show.

Curb Yo Enthusiasm is nearly as good.

I don't think you have to be a New Yorker to "get" a single one of those. Perhaps you could explain what I'm missing from these? I'm just a dumb lazy Southerner afterall. I don't understand you city folk and your crazy comedy. *spits*

British perspective:

Spaced > Black Books > Fawlty Towers > Married With Children > The Office > Seinfeld > Frasier > Father Ted > My Family > The IT Crowd

PS : I've only seen a clip of one episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, since the TV channel over here that picked it up put it on at some Goat-forsaken hour. 'twas the 'my beloved cunt' clip, if anyone cares.

3rd and 4th season are the best. Hugh Laurie is better than Atkinson in these. Of course his characters might be responsible for this.

well blackadder became more the straight man in the last 2
it was really the first series where blackadder was a 'comic character'

fry and laurie are both class in these last 2
every episode is priceless
