I just for like the first time SERIOUSLY listened to Opeth.

I have a few of their albums that I actually bought but only listened to a few tracks every now and again, and just put it aside, but now coming back and listening intently it's a fucking TRIP.

Mikael Åkerfeldt has some chops. I never noticed. I just watched a million live vids on the 'tube and I was pleased. Can't get enough.

Unleash the flamethrowers....

I would have never listened to them if Marcus didn't keep going on about the guitar sound on Ghost Reveries (which I now love). Same for several other bands constantly mentioned around this forum.

I saw Opeth 5 days ago (if I'm lucky Ill see them again tomorrow) and it was so fucking amazing, everything was SPOT ON. Åkerfeldt is a genious.

I fucking love all their albums before Ghost Reveries, but I find GR and Watershed bleh :erk:. My favorites album are from the ''middle'' period, Still life, BWP, Deliverance.

But actually it's been like months since I listened to Opeth

No link with the thread but is there a way to change our nickname ?haha:cool:

my fav album by far is Damnation, i LOVE that album... so hauntingly beautiful. i'm guessing though that most on here love their older, heavier stuff. but i thought it was amazing that they had the depth and talent to go across the entire spectrum like that. and i really dig how they mix it up nicely on Watershed.

Saw opeth at Metaltown a few days ago, and they smoked so much ass. Mikeal was spot on, and holy shit Axenrot is the fucking messiah behind the kit. Great performance all around.

I don't listen to their albums that much however, since I do lose interest in the songs when they are so long. 'Ghost Reveries' being the exception here, that one has gotten many spins on my stereo.

I love Orchid. Holds a lot of memories for me. Love the volume pot stuff he does on The Apostle in Triumph. We'd always be waiting for that live.

Hey, better late than never man, glad you're digging it! (took me awhile to get into them too actually, at least relative to a lot of my friends - mostly because I used to see some hippies at my HS rocking Opeth shirts, which didn't give me the best first impression  )

Dude...how dare you mention Opeth in the same sentence as TDWP, unless "is infinitely better than" divides them :goggly:

Whatever, for me Opeth is easily among the top 10 metal bands of all time, there's just no one like them and goddamn are they good
