Scientology is definitely wackier than the major religions. Those at least derive from ancient superstitions from people who didn't have a way to know any better. Also, they mostly limit themselves to supernatural happenings on this planet, without bringing a whole galactic empire into things.

That being said, I don't hold people's religion against them. Some people were born into a church, or found one when they were at a place in their life when they needed something to believe in. There is always the opportunity for them to decide it is nonsense after all.
