Yup, I hardly ever buy new CD's, only time I do is when I need the CD right then because I'm reviewing it for the school paper.
I buy used, and from two stores.
The first is The Record Exchange. I buy nearly all my vinyl here. They also have two budget sections for CD's, 2.50 and 5$ CD's. I am gonna pick up a lot of jazz on my next trip.
The other one is Quonset Hut. Newer CD's and brand new released are usually 10-12$ so it's not too bad. They also have a used metal section where I'll pick up stuff like Crystal Age, Night Conquers Day, Electric Wizard, In Battle and so forth. They happen to get in a lot of metal in that section I've never heard of, but for some reason, no matter which CD I buy from that section it always ends up being a really damn good album.
Anyways, I've got maybe 200 or so CD's, about 60 tapes and around 600 vinyls. Mostly MEtal, Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Stoner Rock, some hip hop and punk, some classical, comedy like Cheech and Chong and soundtracks like the original Star Trek movie soundtrack on vinyl I bought for laughs.
Anyways, during my last haul, I found a 1985 Yngwie's Rising Force vinyl for 2$, perfect condition.
I never understood people whjo limit themselves to just metal, especially ones who limit themselves only to death metal and so forth. I could not imagine listening only to MAcabre and Immortal and stuff....gotta hve some King Crimson, Ted Nugent, Alice In Chains, Public Enemy and stuff like that in there too.
I'm just like that IG uess. I don't limit myself all that much. Sports, I've tried nearly everything, from gymnastics to football, karate to skateboarding. Clothes, Id on't stick to all bands shirts or dark colors like a lot of my friends do. I usually just wear those blank wal mart shirts that are like gray, brown or yellow and some nice plain jeans.
I find great pleasure in variety.
Anyways, I keep most of my collection on my computer. I've got two 200 gig hard drives, really nice soundcard and a good 5.1 logitech speaker system. Not nearly as good as the sound system downstairs, but I spend most of my time at my computer so it's nice to have it all right here. Also no changing out CD's and records all the time.
Heh, found this picture on my computer just a while ago...
