Your FAV'S: album wise

i'm surprised to see so many people list 'A Fine Day To Exit' as their favourite Anathema album. for me it's clearly their weakest release

IMPOSSIBLE TASK...
but.. i guess i can justify making a decision based on my current listening...
for katatonia it would have to be the great cold distance
porcupine tree.. favorite album is deadwing... i just cant even describe its beauty and how the melodies have effected me (mellotron scratch)
anathema
judgement

Pressure, Leave No Trace and Release are all great songs but I still think the other cd's have more stronger numbers
Temporary Peace, Underworld, Barriers.. This is one of those albums that doesn't stand out in my memory as an exceptional album, but when subjected to it, I realize again that it's actually really good, especially after the first 3-4 songs.

Eternity is where it's at :p Although I really love all albums except that abomination called Judgement.
Eternity is great too, but after "Hope" the album goes down i.m.o..

Anyway, my Anathema top 10 (only full-length albums included):
1. Alternative 4
2. Judgement
3. Eternity
4. Serenades
5. A Fine Day To Exit
6. The Silent Enigma
7. A Natural Disaster

Where 1-5 are all great really, Silent Enigma is pretty good and A Natural Disaster, well, hmm...

my Anathema top's:
1. Judgement(1 of my top 5 albums of all time)
2. Alternative 4
3. A Natural Disaster
4. AFDTE
5. Serenades
6. Eternity
7. The Silent Enigma (I cant get into 6or7 no matter how many listens)

The part in "Deep" where Cavanaugh desperately cries "there's no lament for you tonight" and that marvelous and beautiful solo afterwards....It never gets old to me. *goosebumps every time*

The problem I have with Judgement is that it's just disgustingly cheesy, but that's nothing but an opinion... again ;)
I love the title track though, and Emotional Winter's Pink Floyd rip off intro, and Forgotten Hopes is good too but it got old...
It just has a general fake atmosphere, and part of that is Dave Pybus' influence. He admitted after leaving Anathema that the stuff he wrote meant nothing to him, and he was just trying to write lyrics and music in Anathema's traditional style.
"No one seems to care anymore" Gimme a fecking break

(I cant get into 6or7 no matter how many listens)
Can't get into Eternity? How can you love Alternative 4 and not instantly break into tears when exposed to a song of utter beauty and melancholy like "Angelica"... Eternity and A4 are really close to eachother stylewise.
The part in "Deep" where Cavanaugh desperately cries "there's no lament for you tonight" and that marvelous and beautiful solo afterwards....It never gets old to me. *goosebumps every time*
Fully agreed, one of my favourite Anathema songs evah!
