I missed Catamenia when they came here... I had two fucking styes in my eyes and I looked like Sloth from the goonies and was essentially blind... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I think they lost all their money on that tour (it was self-financed) and they'll never return

Out of all the bands I really thought I'd never see play here (Insomnium, Ensiferum, Kalmah, Turisas, Norther, etc) they were the only ones I missed.

And the new Swallow The Sun disappointed me.

Maybe you just had too high expectations. I like almost every song from it, especially the last one. Nice ideas. I've just started getting know their discography better. When I compare the new one to Ghosts of Loss, it's definitely an improvement. However I need to get back to this later. I guess there's also the matter of taste preference especially when it comes to vocals.

WTF?? Evangelion and Those Whom The Gods Detest are fucking solid albums, what's wrong with them? Nile sound like it could be Annihilation Of The Wicked pt.2 or Ithyphallic pt.2, but they've been like that pretty much always, and that's awesome of them: they keep the same vibe and still make great albums. And Behemoth's is really strong too.

I like Catamenia quite a bit, but going by their live dvd you didn't miss much of a performance - it's sloppy as hell

Been a slow year for me musically, been spending most of the time rediscovering/discovering older music, as few bands i really listen to have released albums this year.


Favorite 2009 album by far has got to be "Addicted" by The Devin Townsend Project, followed by "Ki". Having a hard time recalling any 2009 records i liked that much

Exactly!Just solid.Nothing that special.This year was really great for DM:asphyx,my own grawe,unanimated,gorod,the project hate,hypocrisy and so on,much better albums than new Nile and Behemoth.

I just got the swallow the sun....based on what i've heard so far, which is not alot, it's good, thought the clean vocals are...ehghh...the low growls are so on point though that it makes up for it.
