Your Megadeth Story

Borrowed Killing is my Business from the library, of all places, and taped it. Discarded it for a couple of months then became obsessed with it. Bought Rust in Peace and Peace Sells

If I had to:

Wake Up Dead
Good Mourning / Black Friday
My Last Words
Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
Hangar 18

Nice. I'll pick one per album (and the not-so-obvious choices too):

Last Rites / Loved to Deth
Devil's Island
Liar
Take No Prisoners
High Speed Dirt

I can play the bassline, which is essentially the roots of the rhythm guitar part. I fucking love that Hammer of the Goats tone on the accents for that one.

Sweet. You should record that sometime.

By the way, you need to hear the remixed/remastered version of Peace Sells. They've done a phenomenal job in that the tracks are less 'clouded' and you can hear the intricacies of each track, which means Ellefson comes through crystal clear. You can tell Mustaine really really took his time re-doing all this.

I'm so impressed with the new version of Killing and Peace Sells, I'm almost tempted to upgrade my SFSGSW and RiP albums.

ill pick my faves from the albums im familiar with:

RIP - Tornado of Souls (obvious would be Holy Wars)
CtE - COuntdown to Extinction
Youthanasia - Reckoning Day (though I love Train of Consequences)

i found a used copy of the original so far so good so what. i got it

I don't like the RiP remaster but the others are good. My favs would include Into the Lungs of Hell, Take No Prisoners, Wake Up Dead, Holy Wars... Countdown to Extinction and last but least Ashes in Your Mouth :kickass:

yeah, because they were cheap and available, my peace sells and rip are the remasters. im not much of a megadeth diehard to need originals.

Dev -- any indication as to why RiP didn't turn out as good in the remastering? Perhaps because it was so perfect to begin with maybe?

I can't wait to hear the remixed/remastered version of SFSGSW....the original had that 'hollow' sound which I don't mind, but just curious to hear it fully loaded.

Er.. I hated the These Boots on the remaster of Killing... ugh but that's the only way that the Sinatra clan would allow it to be released. Half of the damn song is BLEEP BLEEEEEEEEEEEP BLEEEEP :( But the Peace Sells and SFSGSW Remasters are awesome. I haven't heard the RIP one except for one song that was put up on the Megadeth forum which I'll include in this post as well as Liar for JayK since it's his fave :)

Liar
Holy Wars

Yeah good point about These Boots...they shouldn't have even bothered with it on the remaster.

Thanks for the uploads. :kickass:

hmm my faves from MegaDeth

- Rattlehead
- Wake up Dead
- Hook In Mouth
- Take no Prisonner
- Rust in Peace

Pretty much. I think I'm hearing some added/re-recorded guitar sections and that seem a little bit out of place..the drum sound has also changed iirc. RiP was one of my first albums and I thought it sounded perfect. Now it is a lil bit clearer but the original mix was not agressive or raw at all; then I don't get why an album that isn't THRASH should be less thrash.

SFSGSW is my favourite album from them btw. It is not perfect at all but there is something magic . I'm gay for 75% of the album at least.

SFSGSW was my first *real* love for Megadeth. I came in at the tail end of Peace Sells, just when the storm was brewin'...only for it to erupt at So Far...

By the time, "Set the World Afire" and "Into the Lungs of Hell" are done, your head is severed and laying on the floor somewhere.

Junkie Dave > Clean and Sober Dave

Dev. I see something resembling an album cover with the word Manes on it in your signature. If this means I was stupid enough to miss a new release by them I'm gonna get a little angry, and maybe dizzy on the side.

EDIT: Ah, I see it comes out in a few weeks. Rapture. :)

Favorites from each album besides the classics:

Looking Down The Cross
The Conjuring
Hook In Mouth*
Lucretia
Ashes In Your Mouth (or Architecture)
The Killing Road

* - So Far got the least play during my Deth-obsessed days, I could never listen to it without thinking "thank God that lineup didn't last and he was able to get Marty and Nick."

"Mary Jane" is a cracking song too. I had that poster up on my wall for about 3 years, right next to my "Can I play with Madness" clairvoyant poster.

Flash forward to 2020 and I kind of like So Far, So Good... So What! but now think that Countdown to Extinction is overall quite lame. Half of it sounds like Get in the Ring by G'n'F'n'R's and that's not a compliment in any way/shape/form.

Rust in Peace and Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? for ever and ever and ever and ever. I've been spinning those discs for close to 30 years and they still reign supreme. I can always return to either one and always feel the opposite of:

"Hey, I don't feel so good. Something's not right?! Something's coming over me. What the fuck is this? WHHHHHOOOOAAAAAAA!!!!"

Hashtag Black Friday
Pound Sign Opt Outside
Dial 9 Gar Samuelson Is My Spirit Animal

I didn't listen to much Thrash back in the day and I only had Countdown to Extinction. I'm not sure why I never branched out because I jammed that album all the time.

Fast forward to this year and I'm going back to re-discover all the classic stuff I ignored 15 years ago to listen to Garage Black Metal Band #97136. Rust in Peace is mindblowing stuff. Whenever I want to listen to Megadeth (which is very often) I reach for RiP first. "Holy Wars..." has to be up there for greatest Thrash song.

I also like that they've had a bit of a revival of late. Dystopia slays.

Rust in Peace and Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? for ever and ever and ever and ever.

This is pretty much it. Add a few songs from Hidden Treasures and that's all you need.

I really like Youthanasia, but I view it as a guilty pleasure.

EDIT: I never got the big shit with Countdown. Seems so.....MTV metal. Other than a song or two, it never impressed me.

SFSGSW is poop compared to its predecessor and successor
