Zod, I have two words for ya....

I think me, Doomcifer, and lizard are the only ones that actually root for their hometown (or proper area) teams.

Sellouts.

Eh... I'm a Panthers fan too, and I've tried to care as much about them as I do my beloved Chiefs, but I just can't quite do it. I think the Panthers will win a game or two in the playoffs, but that's about it. The offense is about as entertaining as listening to "To Mega Therion", though. The NFC style of play in general bores me.

anyone here ever listen to Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio? the other week he said Bill Belichick dresses like a homeless guy who just crawled out of a dumpster, and I've gotta agree :)

More talented? Defensively maybe.
I don't think it's a "maybe". Our D is getting better. We have a lot of young talent that is starting to blossom.

Gates is good, but Gonzalez is still the measuring-stick for tight ends.
I have a great deal of respect for Gonzalez. However, if you're asking me who I want on the field this Sunday? I'd take Gates. If you're asking me who I want for the next 5 years? It's not even a discussion.

Green and Brees are a toss-up...
Sounds about right.

...but LJ has outperformed LT all year.
LJ hasn't played all year. Don't get me wrong, I think LJ is a stud. But LG against our D and LT against yours? We have the #1 Run D in the league. You guys just made Tikki look like the second coming of Jim Brown.

WRs probably a toss-up, Kennison-McCardell and Parker-Caldwell. O-line is not even close.
Agreed on both points.

Dick Sirloin said:
We will win at Arrowhead...
We'll see. I appreciate how tough it is to win at Arrowhead. However, when you guys still had post-season hopes you couldn't beat Dallas or the Giants. After two heart-breaking losses, and your playoff hopes being dashed, I just don't see you guys matching our intensity this week.

Dick Sirloin said:
But like I said, this game won't have any playoff implications. Pittsburgh holds the tiebreaker over SD and, even if SD wins out, Pitt has two VERY EASY games coming up and, with the same record as SD, will take the sixth AFC spot.
Agreed.

And Zod, this doesn't pertain to you because it appears you've been an SD fan for a while, but I love it how one sees a shitload of Chargers jerseys everywhere when three years ago you couldn't find three fans on the entire east coast. Tis funny, is all.
Been a die-hard SD fan since 1979. It is amazing how many bandwagon jumpers there are out there. That said, I bet what you're seeing mostly are the classic powder blues. And I tend to think that's more of a fashion statement than a football allegiance.

Good luck on Sunday.

When Gates has shown he can perform with the same consisteny as long as Gonzo has, I will absolutely agree. However, you can't base it all on potential alone.

And on the run-D thing, yeah Tiki ran all over us on Sunday, but the run-D has been pretty solid all year. Remember, we had the longest streak of not allowing a 100 yard rusher. Personally I think Vermeil is a great offensive coach but doesn't know doodley-squat about D. I mean, with Patrick Surtain and Sammy Knight, how can your pass coverage be one of the worst in the league. Derrick Johnson at LB is going to be great one day, but he's just a rookie. Jared Allen is amazing.

We'll see what happens on Sunday, but if I was a betting man, I would say Chiefs in a close one.

And those powder blue jerseys rule. But then again, I have other reasons for loving powder blue...

If both their careers ended Sunday, only Tony would go to the Hall. That said, Gates has been a model of consistency for two seasons. I don't see any reason to think we're overrating his talent. Between his work ethic and his inexperience, I only expect him to get better.

Wouldn't shock me. I expect either the Chargers to win going away or the Chiefs to win by an FG.

I have no clue why they don't go back to them.

Hey Zod, you know the game's today, right?
Yep. Going to head over to my sister-in-law's for Xmass eve dinner, at halftime. I had my wife call ahead, and make her sister and her family promise to take a blood oath that I will be allowed to watch the second half at her house undisturbed.

Gonna root like hell for the Raiders. If by some miracle they win, and we win today, we could win the division next week.

Also have to root like hell that the Steelers and/or Jags stub their toe. It would be awesome (though admittedly unlikely) to have our destiny in our own hands heading into the final week.

By the way, I'm hoping that Parker will play.

Zod

Who gets the nod if we win today and the steelers somehow lose? We'd have the same record as the bolts, as well as the same amount of wins in the division. We have the nod over pitt, but you guys don't. Gotta love late-season playoff scenarios, haha.

Okay, SD holds the tiebreaker over KC.
KC has the tiebreaker over Pitt.
Looks like I'm pulling for Pitt. to lose one of their next two games and SD to lose next week to Denver. And of course to win the last 2.

GO CLEVELAND!
