I didn't like that at all.

His voice lacked any power at all, which should be the main criteria for any metal singer. His phrasing was weird and it just didn't work with the song, and he sang with about as much emotion as someone reading the lyrics off a sheet. Which appears to be exactly what he's doing.

If you're going to audition for the biggest power metal band in the world, at least put some effort into it!

well yeah all metal singers should have a powerful voice, but power metal is the best sub-genre of metal so it is most important that power metal singers have a powerful voice. XD
