Opeth Blew The Roof Off The Norva

I was at the show, too. It was my fourth time seeing them, one of my fav Opeth concents, except I was disappointed by the lowest turnout of any Opeth show I've been to. But it was a great set, really enjoyed hearing Serenity Painted Death, Night and the Silent Water and Hope Leaves live, which I...

first impressions of Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue

I saw them on Thursday at the Warehouse Next Door in DC, and bought the CD. Mia was there selling merchandise, and I asked her "Have you heard the new CD?" then felt like an idiot, so of course I had to buy it. It's been growing on me, but it's nothing like seeing them live. I was only a couple...

also kayo dot got reviewed in the washington post!!!

I get the Post! I can't believe they are in there. I was at that show, it was really great. This review is pretty accurate. Mia sold me the new CD, I'm getting into that one now. What's the name of the guitarist, the big guy? He was in line behind me. Hope to check them again sometime soon....

ALL U.S OPETH TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

I am really getting into the new Pelican CD, although it's not as good ISIS IMHO. So I was excited to see that they are opening for Opeth; only I'll be seeing them in Springfield, where Nevermore opens. But at least it'll be good to see Opeth again. :erk:

    Heaviest Opeth Riff

I prefer the heavy middle section in Dirge for November. It's a heavy melodic riff.

    Borknagar - Epic

You people already got Epic? I ordered mine from Best Buy and it won't be here for another month. But I do think there is some connection between Borknagar and Opeth. The Olden Domain is my favorite CD by them; there really are a lot of similarities (I think the ends of The Dawn of the End and...

    recommendations

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a GREAT album Miles Davis - Kind of Blue; very mellow, quite a departure for me after listening to death metal Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick and Aqualung I know these are hardly in the metal vein, just the type of thing I have been listening to lately.

Help Get Me Started On Some Prog!

As I write this, I am listeining to Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. I would strongly recommend this album if you want to hear some good prog. I only got it a couple weeks ago but I think I have listened to it at least 10 times (and it is 2 discs). Parts of it, especially the keyboards...

    Satellite Radio Anyone?

I am going to be getting a Sirius-ready radio for my car tomorrow. Does anyone else have it? How are the music stations on there? Do they play any underground music at all?

    Sea of Tranquility Interview Mike

If you have not already seen it, here's a link to good interview that was on the Sea of Tranquility website. It was done before the last time Opeth played in DC. http://www.seaoftranquility.org/article.php?sid=159&mode=thread&order=0
