Actually, I'd say that's the charm of the two first albums, the power of combining some really brutal riffs, combined with some really simple drumming. Adds to the headbanging, IMO. Perhaps on cost if intriciaty (sp?), though, for some I guess.

As a matter of fact, that's a thing I don't like about Saxon, the lyrical themes are sometimes a bit too varied for my taste. I mean, I don't like hearing a track with the name "Crusader" and then hear a track with the name "A Little Bit of What You Fancy" or "Bad Boys Like to Rock 'n' Roll.

Both of the records are known for being the respective band's commercial record, so I'd say this is a very interesting poll (not that I doubted for a second who was gonna win on this site, though). Although TBA is probably a bit more commercial than Ritual, I'd still say TBA is the better...

I'd love to vote for New Order, but since I haven't even heard Gathering I don't feel alligable (sp?) to vote. I have all Testament studio records from Legacy to Low, except Souls of Black.

I was thinking to buy the Wheels of Steel/Strong Arm of the Law cd for starter, since they had a big influence on the NWOBHM in the early 80's, but I've been hearing a bit here and there that Saxon has actually improved with age, and nowadays soud better than they ever did in during the NWOBHM...
