How do you mantain the right drums tuning for the whole session?

Our drummer puts a nut on his lug bolt and when tension is reached he tightens the nut down. Kind of like a lock nut for a guitar, keeps it in tune. Of course you have to beat the heads a bit to stretch the thing out but it does stabilize after a bit. Not perfect but it sure does help.

    Tube recommendations for 5150

Ruby for me in the power section. JJ was a tad dark. I liked the Winged "C" for power also, ruby just seems a bit tighter. Just my .02

    Broken v30?

Plug your speaker cable into the cab and get a 9 volt battery. Touch the sleeve (of the speaker cable) to the neg terminal of the battery and the tip (of the speaker cable) to the positive terminal of the battery. Both speakers should move together, not against one another. Hope this helps...

New power tubes, bias advise needed.

I tried 43 ma and it was real open and burned pretty hot. I dialed back to 32ish and it sounded a little cold or closed to dynamics. I settled on 38 ma for now, seems to be where all of the tubes I have tried end up. I have used matched quads of JJ, Winged C, Ruby, and the original set of...

New power tubes, bias advise needed.

Power tubes are drawing an average of 475 plate volts, that tells me according to the webber bias calculator that I should bias the tubes at near 43 ma per tube. This would be @ near 70%. Seems hot to me, maybe because the hottest I have run tubes at has been 38 ma so far. Any advise? Should...

    Peavey Windsors are.....

Mine came with the bias set to 13 ma per tube. I cranked it to 38 which was 70% dissipation. Huge difference. I now have lots of headroom and warm tone. No more crossover distortion ala Peavey for me please. I like mine with passives better, which sucks because I have to get a good set of...

Help me out with guitar setup.

Hell a block of wood behind the tremolo block, between the edge of the trem block closest to the headstock and the body will stabilize things for ya. Just takes a few minutes with a power sander to get it right. Just shave it till the trem floats parallel to the body with the wood block in...

    Peavey Windsors are.....

Just got mine, Ruby power tubes and JJ preamp tubes. Shit, that alone is almost worth the price, and it's adjustable bias from the factory. Just swap the JJ's out for a different flavour and BANG!

New Amp! Peavey Windsor with Clips!

It's easy, just read a lil bout this and then use it to enter the values in the calculator and it will let you know how to set it to approx 70% plate dissipation to get rid of the crossover distortion. Or what they call cold distortion. https://taweber.powweb.com/biasrite/br_page.htm...

New Amp! Peavey Windsor with Clips!

Got mine yesterday and I tested the bias,......... it like the 5150 was way cold! Factory had it at the coldest setting, 12-15 m.a. and I adjusted it to 39-40 m.a. to get them to 70% and the amp came alive. Thank god this amp unlike the 5150 has a bias pot for adjustment. Have someone check...

    isp decimator g-string

ISP FTW! No tone sucking and it's virtually transparent. I have both and A/B'd them in line, and yes I reversed the pedal order just to see, and the ISP took the cake. NS-2 cut notes off funny like and DID suck a bit of the top end off. Keep in mind these are my experiences and should not be...

New Amp! Peavey Windsor with Clips!

I'm all over it, gotta get one. I just received a flier from a music store that has them on sale for $229. I have been debating one for a while and now that I hear your clips the wallet comes out. http://www.music123.com/Peavey-Windsor-Tube-Amp-Head-481331-i1166254.Music123
