    Opeth around the campfire.

    Yay for Canada!

Anyone think Derelict Herds should've been on the album?

I think Derelict Herds can be looked at as a remnant of Ghost Reveries, in a way. It's quite different from the rest of watershed: it has no really abrupt transitions, and has lengthy groove-oriented sections, which reminds me of Ghost Reveries (Baying of the hounds, harlequin forest... beneath...

    Burden MUST be played live!

I agree. Burden has to be played live. The vocal melody is one of Mikael's best, no doubt.

    Introducing a friend to Opeth

Given your constraints: play him Ghost of Perdition, the Baying of the Hounds, and Isolation Years. Then switch to Watershed and run through the Lotus Eater, Burden, and Hessian Peel. 6 of the best!

Hessian Peel- Better As An Instrumental?

The backward vocal section in this song is my favourite backward vocal section I've ever heard. It sounds amazing.

Demon Of The Fall: Opener or encore?

First time I saw them: Demon of the fall was encore Second time: Demon of the fall was opener, and Drapery Falls was encore. From my experience, Drapery falls worked a lot better.

    the mike solo acoustic album

I'd rather have a Damnation 2, except I would want it be more 'burden-ish' and 'coil-tastic' than anything off Damnation.

Love/Hate relationship with The Drapery Falls

The song is cyclical, and cyclical songs are fucking cool!

What was the first song you actually liked from Opeth?

I saw them perform Deliverance on Lamentations and remember thinking the outro was the best thing I've ever heard.

    Opeth's feelgood summer hit!

The Lotus Eater is pretty 'feel good.' So is the Heir Apparent outro. The rest of the album is quite melancholic.

Watershed: Opeth's Most Rhythmically Impressive Album?

As good as Axe is, he doesn't beat Lopez on GR. Maybe the music on GR is just more conducive to groovy-as-fuck drumming. Lopez's double bass playing is more interesting as well. Highlights: 5:40 - 5:55 in Ghost of perdition (basically a 15 second drum fill). Actually, from 5:40 until 7:00 is...

    Video interview Mikael

Nice interview, I was interested throughout the whole thing. Kinda felt like a therapy session for Mike at times haha. Intense!

    Watershed vs Ghost Reveries

:OMG: I love coil! So soothing and an epic departure for the album. I wish it was a longer song, but maybe it's best that it's short and sweet. I kind of want them to do another soft album/heavy album combination... just cuz I could listen to a full album of coil-esque songs. I like the new...

What's wrong with By the pain I see in others?

This song is also one of my favourites. I like how the drums alter the feel of the 'rise to submition' sections, the first2 of which is really fast and chaotic, while the 2nd is more relaxed and groovy.
