As far as I recall, the demo came out in 05, but they official release of Diadem wasn't available until Jan/Feb of '06, so it counts as a release for that year.

It's true, there were other great albums (Negura, Agalloch, etc) but you're only supposed to pick one. Why is that so difficult? No three-way tie plus a close second with a contender in the making bullshit.
