Who the fuck is Demilich?

with a special shout out to Orthodox - Gran Poder as a strong contender.

This album is ghastly. Somebody trade me something half way decent for it.

Listened to it for the first time a couple of days ago, and a handful of spins later I'm starting to realize its greatness. One of my first impressions was that this album feels a lot more coherent and consistent than Väre, which at times came off as pretty lost and lacking direction

As much as I love Väre, I agree. And Maaäet is fucking brilliant. I'm still amazed at the strength of the visuals my mind's eye produces while listening to it.

I should have some other people listen to it and see what their minds conjure. I did a similar experiment with Drudkh once and it was fairly interesting.

It's true, there were other great albums (Negura, Agalloch, etc) but you're only supposed to pick one. Why is that so difficult? No three-way tie plus a close second with a contender in the making bullshit.

What's the general opinion on "Visions of Eden" by Virgin Steele at this point? I really liked it, despite the lack of metal. Good melodies, good vocals, just generally good songs.

My favourite is possibly Celtic Frost or Summoning. Not quite sure...
