pubs close at 11pm in the UK and cops carry no guns ... getting away from cops is easy :loco:

The government has just introduced late licensing here, so all pubs can apply to have 24 hour drinking rather than having to close at 11pm. It was a big topic of debate over here for about a week, and nobody has mentioned it since really. The majority still close at 11pm as far as I know though.

Why, what time do pubs close elsewhere?

Pubs/bars/taverns, whatever you want to call 'em, vary also state-by-state, and sometimes even town/municipality-by-town/municipality. In New Jersey, bars have the ability to stay open until 3 AM if they wish, though most close at 2 AM. In New York State (especially NYC), bars can stay open until 4 AM, though many clubs and whatnot stay open all night, or re-open for after-hours partying. Massachusetts is the worst, bars seem to close there by 1 AM, and they're always calling last call by like 12:30 or so. Another reason why that state is filled with and run by Massholes.
