and I was simply giving a positive explanation for how deadly it is.

Drugs are deadly in a negative way. They cause crime, waste police money, waste government resources, destroy families, destroy prospects e.t.c.

^ yeah, with that logic I could also say obesity is much more deadly because obese people eat more meat and thus result in the deaths of more animals.
I was merely talking about which is more deadly to the individual... if you want, you can go on listing the problems from all possible stakeholders but it won't change the validity of my oneliner.

That's bringing in another topic which isn't really comparable and I agree with what the bible says that "animals are here for the benefit of humans" and many obese people don't eat meat. I know people who live off crisps, chocolate bars and pepsi.

Ok i can play this game as well.
Obese people are weak-minded individuals with no self-control and therefore are more likely to commit white-collar crimes (notice how every mafia boss is obese?), which by the way result in a much greater loss of government money than regular crimes. They destroy families, prospects and businesses.
Consumers of alcohol on the other hand benefit the government with billions of dollars annualy from their purchases. Wine drinkers, who are most likely to consume alcohol only in moderation (as stated in my oneliner), are among the most educated and intelligent of people, and are therefore less likely to commit crimes.

that's where you are wrong. Obese people are the biggest consumers of fast food from restaurants such as McDonald’s, burger king, and KFC, all of which have meat in their main dishes. Here's a challenge for you: find any of these restaurants where the majority of the staff aren't overweight.
Obese people are a huge burden to society because of their lawsuits, health benefits, "disabilities", and so on.

All this aside, the base truth in my oneliner remains valid.
aaand I am done for today, because I have exams tommorow.

Anything is fine in moderation. Hell, the only reason people kick up a fuss about people doing drugs is when they let it get out of control. Its the same with any drug. If you dont see the need to use substances to relax, hey, thats fine, but that doesn't give you the right to attack those that do enjoy them. Hahahhaha though i find it hilarious that many of these people who claim that using drugs to make themselves feel good is wrong drink coffee every day. Funny, because i could've SWORN thats an addictive substance too...

Anti-drug laws fail to address the problem. All they does is label people who need help as criminals. That and they push the trade underground, where it is impossible to regulate.

ps. I dont 'do drugs' myself, but beer kicks ass.
pps. Anyone here seen that The Experiment program? Shit, it really does NOT say much for the whole prison-concept.

Yeah man...because all drugs are exactly the same, and to consider the possibility that one isnt so evil means that they all are nice and happy and should be given to kids in schools...

Dont change the subject. This was about marijuana. Heroin has had its uses, medicinally, but it has serious negative effects on a user outside of that context, and there is no way in hell i would ever claim that it should be used casually. Heroin-users cannot self-moderate. Marijuana users can. If you ignore the difference, then theres little point of you posting, as you dont understand the concept of what makes a substance a 'bad drug'.

i forgot what the original argument was about.
who cares. aka deliverance's story made me laugh.

ps: many of you guys are in college or even younger. it becomes much more difficult to justify using illegal substances when you are in the "adult" world. meaning, it's awfully difficult to pay a mortgage, buy cars, feed your family, etc etc while smoking weed. not that it's expensive or anything, it just becomes so pointless. out of all my friends, i know ONE that occasionally smokes weed. Prior to graduating college, ALL of my friends smoked weed. I don't really have a point here except to say that smoking weed isn't as interesting or as important as some of you guys would like to think. if you feel you need drugs to enjoy life, then so be it. there's no reason to judge you. just be prepared to sequester yourself into a tiny subculture that the "square" community doesn't give a shit about.

i really dont knwo if this is the same for everywhere but in my city on april 20(4/20) ppl go to the legislative building here and its legal to smoke weed for that day.

April 20 = Hitler's date of birth.

I suppose stoners used this day because it was the birthday of the most evil man in the last century.

Oh, not to mention the Columbine Highschool shooting in Colorado.

I agree with dorian about one thing and I've stated it before. You do drugs or you have a family. Not both. I never plan on having children, but I am in school to be a teacher so it goes for me as well. Once I get that certificate I'll be completely done with pot.

Cocaine cut with peanut butter on the other hand...
