I run 2 amps live and I currently have 2 avatr 4x12s that i love and a mesa triple rectifier & a peavey windsor thats modded i use live. Im looking to upgrade to eitger an uberschall or 5150III to go with my mesa. I play straight deathcore ala Whitechapel or Oceano. Help me out.

the 5150II is more versatile, the clean is better, it's got an awesome crunch tone as well.
the Überschall is quite a bit more brutal and raw sounding for extreme highgain, the highgain of thw 5153 is awesome as well, but sounds a bit smoother.

I prefer the Über, but that's just my taste really

The Uberschall just sounds like an overpriced, overhyped, glorified Recto to my ears. Granted, there are some differences, it's not the exact Recto sound, but it's quite similar. However, for me, that amp ONLY sounds good with a boost, without it, I absolutely hated it. I'd take a 2 channel Recto over an Uberschall any day of the week.

The 5150 III has much more usable tones and will compliment the Recto you already have much, much better IMO. It is significantly more versatile with an awesome clean channel and some great crunchy tones. It is much tighter than the Uberschall and a 3 channel Recto, with or without a boost.

Hm ok. Ill try tonfind an uberschall to try. I love the evh5150III but the uberschall has always been a dream amp so i thoughtaybe I should try it. I have a ton of amps I just wanna have the best now.

I have a Peavey Windsor modded, a Peavey Butcher old versipn, a Peavey Ultra, a Crate Blue Voodoo modded & my Triple Recto. All of these have very useable tones but as I grow up make more money & gig more i wamt the best &
To leave these as backups.

The 5150 III is all around better to me. It has better cleans than both the recto and uberschall. It's tighter than both as well, and even has a GOOD crunch channel for rock. The uberschall I had was pretty loose and muddy sounding. It was alright with certain settings (the mids and presence settings are a bit weird), but the clean channel was quiet and not very good sounding, and I can't say the high gain channel sounds any better than a $600 used 5150... which should be mentioned considering how much the uberschalls cost. Hell, you could get a used 5150 III and a used 5150 for the price of a used uberschall.

Ok so 5150III is rAcking up votes. Now will a 5150III compliment my recto better than just a 5150 or 5150II??

Don't forget that the rev2 and the rev blue ubers don't sound the same, I'm talking about the rev2 when I'm saying it sounds NOTHING like a recto, not even similar.

Also: I really love my 5150III but for just modern high gain I prefer the regular 5150/6505 with a properly set up bias.
The dials on it are less "dangerous" especially the treble, the 5153 is a very dark sounding amp, but if you raise the treble to rectify that it get fizzy very quickly.
Don't get me wrong, the 5153 is AWESOME, but for modern core-styles I still prefer the 6505/5150.
Or you got get an Earforce and be done with it for good:)

Lasse, sorry to be off-topic, but would you choose a 5153 or a Recto for general studio use, versatility, rock tones, light rock tones and stuff like that? After two years I finally learned how to get an useable tone out of the single recto on the place I work, but I want something for myself, to use at my home stuff. Considering between these two.

I have another question for you Lasse if you get to read it.. I bookmarked and saved your last thread about the bias mod if i remember correctly.. I am interested in trying it out and i was wondering - what do you set your bias to in the 5150? (mm.. by the way what is it biased to originally before any mod?)

I am interested but also a bit skeptical about modifying a 5150 or recto cause i believe that cold biasing is part of their sound.. I could be wrong.

Sorry for the hijack..
