7 string pickup recommendations?

I've been rocking the Tone Zone-7 in my Carvin DC727 since August, and while I love the tone for leads, its just not tight/attacky enough in the bottom end to make do for the extreme death/black metal CD I am recording.

I've got a DiMarzio X2N-7 on order, which will hopefully rule, but if it doesn't, I'm going to need suggestions! The guitar is a 25.5" 7 string, with an ash body, maple/walnut neck, ebony fingerboard, and stainless steel frets. I'd like to get a really tight bottom end with lots of note clarity in the chords, and enough warmth to not sound like shrilly balls.

I use a Lundgren M7 and a Seymour Duncan SH-2, love the shit out of that shit.

+1 to the Lundgren M7. I've got one in the bridge position of my custom 7-string, which actually happens to be quite similar, as it has an ash body and maple top, maple/wenge neck, ebony fingerboard and stainless steel frets and a 27" scale.
