A circle pit in 2011!!

Yes, but I do recall on this very forum people asking Glen's permission to headbang at the festival.

That's total bullshit.

The only discussion in the past is my ban on moshing because of the dogpeckers that insist on invading other's personal space and acting like retards in the middle of a windmill seizure. If one person gets hurts, guess who gets named in the lawsuit? There have been some smaller pits over the past few years with no issue along with a few personal stage dives. I have only intervened once in the history of the festival because someone thought he was still in South America and could make his own rules up as he went.

I see one person start some wall of the damned bullshit and Terminator (I think most know my personal festival security guard at the front door who has worked every show except the first) will escort them out by their balls.

Glen,
Calm down my friend.
I am with you 100% on this.
If I were a promoter, I too would place a "No moshing" policy.
I was simply responding to the question as to why this had to be discussed on the forum, and pointed out that based on things that have happened in the past, such as people feeling their personal space was being invaded, people have asked here on the forum if headbanging was allowed.

I wasn't implying that YOU do not permit headbanging or having a good time.

I have been to plenty of shows where nobody needs to be told to mosh; it happens on it's own. Lamb of God never had to tell anyone to mosh--and I have seen the pit open up at every LOG show I attend. Overkill never had to...UFO never had to...Pantera never had to...Hell, Evergrey never had to tell anyone to mosh but a mosh pit opened right up on the first song they played here a few years ago.

So, if you don't think it is lame, that is ok. I will wait for the band to move me. Or the crowd.

i saw Lamb Of God back when the name change occurred and they had to instruct everyone how to do the infamous "wall of death" it's now their trademark.

here is their HELLFEST performance in 2003 (i attended) once the biggest hardcore and metal festival in the US.

so what then does this make LOG? begging for attention or a band making a statement with it's fans on how rowdy their sets can be?

10.Do you feel disturbed if a circle pit is taking place? *

Yes, a lot
That depends on my mood
I don#t care
No, it doesn't disturb me
No, I even think that it has to be part of some concerts

12.Do you feel disturbed if people are crowd surfing during a show?

Yes, a lot

No, I even think crowd surfing is important because you can transport people who are injured forwards to the medics

Circle pits: deeply disturbing

Circle pits: deeply disturbing

crowd surfing is possibly one of the dumbest things ever and far more annoying than circle pits. you at least know where the circle pit is and can avoid it until it's over. plus how annoying is worrying more about getting hit in the head by a person's boot than watching the show?! or worse yet, people on the crowd somehow attempting to attain the same glory of the band gracing the stage?! hahahaha. i am usually all for dropping crowd surfers because then next time maybe they won't do it.

how it went from stage diving to crowd surfing is beyond me.

I doubt any of the old folks at ProgPower would be interested in doing the wall of death. Plus it's hard to do the wall of death when you are sitting down.

You aren't a fan of death metal?

Not really.
I got out of metal in the early 90's as I was getting more into crossover and punk, so I missed out on all the Florida stuff, like Morbid Angel, and Obituary, and everything that followed. I was into stuff like DEATH, etc.

As far as death goes, I am more into the dark metal stuff (IE - death / doom to some).

Are Amon amarth considered death metal?

I'm not into crowd surfing either (either doing the surfing or getting surfed on). I think the pollsters were just trying to cover all the crowd-movement bases.

During most Nevermore shows, Warrel will often yell, "Push somebody". He'll also often invite people to stage dive.

As for Lamb of God instructing the audience to do that, that might have been because Hellfest is in France, and I don't believe all cultures mosh at shows. However, I may be wrong on both points. And not for nothing, but Lamb of God slays live.
