One Day Last Year

One day last year
I felt victimized by my own hand
I had collapsed under my own demands
I wandered lonely as a clown
That wears a carbon paper crown
Through unwashed halls of dust
And the spectres of those he learned too late not to trust

One day last year
I was overjoyed for a spilt second
That stretched on for as long as I could reckon
I listened to a thunderous sermon
And realized an inner cosmic yearning
To loosen the chains and embrace losing inhibitions
I draw my energy from the fusion of my own transmissions

One day last year
I touched myself and felt a numb sensation
I had grown hollow and knew no words of invocation
Considering how my life could have been spent
Like a supplicant at confession with nothing to repent
I believed in nothing and nothing believed in me
I had no contractual obligation, only contactual abnegation

One day last year
I could see nothing but the future
I aimlessly searched for a key to the future
Like a sleepwalker waiting for the dimming of the light
Suffering myself to become an unwilling proselyte
One day last year that I'll never have again
But what distinguishes it from the other 364 then?

Cage Of Clouds

Stunning visions of a world behind the shades
Of our veiled insights and tainted spheres
A moment of pure transcendence that never fades
I have been seeking enlightenment for years
Observing the prismatic skies with unclean lenses
Cascades of invisible sparks mystify disarrayed senses

I'm slipping out of my mind
In the realm of perpetual animation
I'm about to leave my head
Become the antithesis of creation
Flying in a cage of clouds
Past the edges of known space-time reality
The body is temporary, the soul is eternal
Crossing the threshold, I am a nonentity

I see time divided in erratic wavelengths
Sundials cast no shadow and hourglasses break
A sublime escape from the conundrum of existence
How much of myself can I succesfully unmake?
I see fragmented foundlings of collective ancestry
While saprophytes burrow through my fading shell
Lucid windows open to a dreamscape menagerie
Between the lilywhite pillars of heaven
And the crimson precipices of hell

I'm slipping out of my mind, I'm about to leave my head
Dreaming aloud in a gilded cage of transparent clouds
If I can remain orbiting this high, don't pull me out of bed
A comfortable prison with no walls in a cage of clouds

I dance with the ghosts of the magnetic fields
In the autumnal gardens of a crystal palace
I ride through dimensions of blazing twilight
Where lost kindred spirits bear no malice
Bliss will transform into silent chaos
If you embrace these broken premises
Oblivious to reality, I didn't think to listen
And I propelled back down to earth
Looked in the mirror and found my nemesis

I'm slipping back into my mind
Reentering my familiar atmosphere
The brick and mortar monotony
One with reality, my most profound fear
Now I dream of savage curtains and deserted rooms
I'm tied to the map, my shaking hands of doom
Becoming unbound outside the cage of clouds

The Inner Child Speaks Out

Don't fear the long walk down the street
Or the ground trembling beneath your feet
You are the master of your domain
You're only as big as the space you claim

The moon spins in empty space
Entering after time has left the race
While you are here, you feel all right
Safe in the tattered canopy of neon light

The inner child speaks out
The music attracts him, opposition driven to him
Emotional twist and bipolar shout
Memories push him, serendipity pulls them
In the land of the subconscious

Don't worry because you feel inadequate
Or the colour of your soul feels temperate
Everything will slide into its proper place
The way of the world, decadence and grace

Energy is generated above and below
The passage of time is quick and slow
While you are here, you feel all right
The elements will converge for you tonight

The inner child speaks out
He's still learning what life is truly about
Synchronicity where moments cross
In the dark ages of fantasy and loss
Walls are destined to fall before you
And you'll never know the best thing to do
One period ends while the next phase starts
The only map you follow is written in your heart

they're pretty good, only critiscism i have is that the rhyming structure is a little primative, but well done :headbang:

I agree. One of your strong points certainly is eloquence.
Just a thought: if you manage to loosen* rhyme's shackles a bit, the outcome will probably become even more satisfying. But who am I to tell you what you have to do, feel free to ignore this ;)

Thanks for sharing, I'm a fan of heartfelt poetry.

* = Breaking isn't meant here since you obviously decided to go for rhyme schemes, which can be quite demanding, to say the least.

Not being a native English speaker, I wasn't aware of the negative connotation the word 'verbosity' can bear...it's removed now
