The beauty of the English language - the many multiple-syllabled synonyms that make English prose so wonderful is also what I think makes English verse worse. English poems have never done anything for me. Hebrew poetry just speaks more to me - the language is based on roots and does not contain many 4+ syllable words and so makes for great verse in my opinion. The interaction of the root-based words is what does it for me on a language level. Hebrew prose, though, is somewhat lacking due exactly to what makes its poetry great.
