I dont know if somebody posted about this band already, but about 3 months ago I discovered them and I must say these guy really kicks serious ass. They are from france (actually just the guitarist and another guy). I must say that Symphony X has competition and though one. Check out this band on www.adagio.fr.st and post overhere your opinions about this band.

Adagio is definately more in the prog vein (I'd call them progressive neoclassical metal to be very specific) but since they are European they have a more euro metal sound (in other words, more dugadugadugaduga) than say, a prog band like Dream Theater.

They're more neo-classical than prog, and neo-classicalism is often steriotyped as power metal. But in Adagio's case, it's different. They're more prog than power, but more neo-classical than prog.
I just can't wait till Underworld gets in my cd player

Especially since the classical element in Adagio is not the stereotypical "neoclassical" sound (ie mostly baroque sounding). Underworld is chock full of romantic and tons of modern classical elements.

Nevermind I already checked some samples on their website

Seems like I'm getting some of them too.. I hope they aren't signed to Inside Out, cause those guys are making LOADS of money out of me, 40% of all my cd's are Inside Out :loco:

I personally do not find them any sort of SyX rip-off.. sure in sanctus ignis there were some extremely distinct syx resemblances there with the start to smoke and mirrors being a main one i can think of right now, but it wasnt even relevant to their sound, as it changed when the actual song started, and their own style shone through all the way. Its normal for an artist to be influenced by another, and its more of a compliment than anything else, but Adagio's own style is very very apparent, I've only heard a little of the new album so far, but already it's even more apparent in Underworld.

I think theyre fantastic and are going to keep getting better and better.

That was one of my favorite songs also with the nice oboe at the start that leads into the strings with the harpsichord. That song is my favorite on the album.

Whoa, really? Thats one of my favs. Personally the one song it took me the longest to get into (and its still my least favorite) was Seven Lands of Sin.

Oooops, i listend to it and realised that i thought it was another song. I like that song. I was thinking of the title track. Damn latin names, gets you mixed up!

And you don't like 7LoS!!! Oh My God! That's the best song on the album for me, by FAAAAAARRRRRR then the Stringless Violin then second sight.
