...LONG after you originally purchase them. I'd like to discuss albums like this, because they're often pretty unruly once they decide to unveil their true majesty.

I put on this old RC recommendation that I haven't listened to in a while, and was blown away!

Discuss. IF YOU DARE!

Man, HEart of the Ages is stupidly awesome. When i first bought it i only liked a few songs but having revisited it over time i came to know how truly fantastic this is.

The last album i remember buying, not listening for several years and hearing it once again then loving it (which wasn't too long ago actually) is Left Hand Solution - Shadowdance.

I know Neurosis 'The Eye of Every Storm' took me over a year to get into, now I love the tits out of it. I could name a handful that took like a year to get into, but I can't think of any that took several years.

Dreaming Neon Black by Nevermore, when i was younger and it first came out I didnt get it much. As I got older I realized how great it truly is.

Burzum. Took me a bit to really appreciate these albums.

p.s. I just ordered Heart of The Ages a few days ago. Can't wait till it arrives.

I still cant get into HEart of Ages, after like 5 years of owning it.

I hated HoM - The August Engine for a long time until one day it just snapped into place. Now it's one of my all-time favorites. That was almost my last blind purchase from a raving JayKeeley review. :loco:

A few I can think of...

I own these 3, and out of them, in order from left to right:

still needs to grow, growing, MOTHERFUCKING GROWN!

Almost all of the RC recommendations I've bought and not liked at first I've ended up appreciating more later, HoM and ItW... are just two stellar examples!

Abigor - Nachthymnen
Abigor - Supreme Immortal Art
Samael - Ceremony of Opposites
Graveland - Following the Voice of Blood

lots of Neurosis albums

almost sold my Aeternus albums before i realized they rule

Demigod- SLUMBER OF SULLEN EYES

It took me awhile to really understand this album, but once it clicked it has become one my favorite albums ever. The riffs get stuck in my head all the time now and the atmosphere the album unleashes is incredible. It was the gateway for me into what is one of my favorite areas of metal: old school death metal.

Void of Silence - Human Antithesis

Read the review of this back on the old RC zine, downloaded a track from their website, it didn't do shit for me but it lived in my sample folder for about 8 months, I had no clue what it was by then, listened again and my tastes has evolved and I kinda liked it, another few listens and I was hooked.

Runemagick was much the same.

Definitely agree with "In the Nightside Eclipse." I still think "Anthems" is better, though. ItNE is definitely an album to be listened to on headphones.

Also: anything by Neurosis, Kayo Dot and King Crimson
