Can someone please tell me how Alexi sets his amp and its configurations? I'm trying to get that sound or at least get to something close to it.

Can somebody please count the number of times this thread has been created?

If you want a sound close to Alexi's, use a 5150 head with a Boss SD-1 to boost the overdrive already in the amp and pair it with a 1960A cab.

That is about as close as you're gonna get without buying his rack mate.

Cut the mids backa bit, have bas about half way up and treble near full

Yep, gotta agree with NW. Maybe put the treble 3/4 way up. And if i'm not totally insane, I'd say keep reverb to a minimum.

Indeed, keep the reverb down! Altough i think he has some mids! Hmm, oh well, i dont use the 5150 so i cant tell

I use a marshall myself.

Keep reverb abut 2-3, just to add to the balls of the tone.

Yeah, he uses some mids, but not a lot.

Oh well, i was hunting for a 5150 myself too before i read this thread! its good to know i can get alexi's tone out of it too :)

Gav, what marshall are you using?

preamp modeling console and headphones, maybe :D but then the cute widdle baby-amp would be kinda useless of course, since you can plug the headphones directly into the console :) :)

so i'm not the only one who finds CoB's guitar tones sound kinda like a 5150 ....... especially the dynamics, ie pick-attack, sustain etc...

We should make a sticky thread of that pic!

 the only thing thats really nice is the Engl Power amp, and the Guitar
Lee Jackson's cost up to $250, but its homemade so thats kinda neat.
The Effects are the first issue of the Intellifex, there are better effects units.
The peavey, well. . its all tube, but its still the low end, nothing close to a Mesa/VHT/Engl/Marshall. Im buing one in a few days.
and the cabs are standard.

Hey, I own a 5150 with a Marshall 1960a/b300 watt cab. I think i get close to Alexis sound pretty close, i use the following set up (which sounds better on low volume)

Gain 10
Bass 10
Mid - 2 or 3
Treble anywhere from 5-7
Post gain 1-2
presence (sp?) 10
resonance 10
Thats usually what i use, and i get great lows and great highs too.
I use a Schecter ( :/ ) c1+ with a EMGs, 81 and 85. I think it sounds great, get a 5150 they sound amazing.
