Okay not all, but a great majority of you on this forum have worked your selves into a tizzy about this new album, and discussing leaks and getting banned and arguing about whats what and all this bullshit.

I have not listened to a single second from watershed, and will not until the morning of the 3rd when i go and pick up the album and it will be great because it'll be completely fresh and open to my natural interpretations.

some of you might find that will and self control yeild great results sometimes.

Good man,I have heard one track fully from the new album, but that's because only it was played live!My ideas are the same, and believe I have the willpower to last until June:p

Says the guy with a spazzed-out, cussing thread title.

Have fun spending $20.00 on your new CD. I'm sure Opeth appreciates the small percentage that they get from that.

In my opinion, if you want to support the band then go buy a t-shirt, or a ticket to one of their shows. This is where they REALLY get their money from.

Hah, you should see the Cryptopsy forum. Well at least until Flo came by and had some words last week, before that it was total and utter lameness.

My best experiences with Opeth have always been when I had the music in some form(store bought/downloaded/borrowed/ ect) and just pushed play. No official release date or cd case really makes a difference. I loved Morningrise and Still Life long before I had ever seen a copy of them in the stores. Years later, it doesnt fuckin matter how I heard them the first time, because they are still great albums that I listen to this day.

Same goes for GR. I had that 1 month in advance, and even though I didnt have the official package yet, that first night listening to it was magical. 2 years later, it doesnt matter how or when I heard it the first time, it's a great timeless classic.

2 years later, when I will still be spinning Watershed. The question of whether I got it on June 3rd, April 26th, or September 1st will be insignificant.

to the OP: I tip my hat off to you for having the will power to wait till June. You will be rewarded.

Honestly, It's about the price per CD the band gets. Without CD sales, the band receives less advance support for recording, videos, touring and so on. No, the band doesn't make huge amounts from the actual CD sale, but more sales = more label advance, which is needed to release great product. It's an ugly machine, but no CD sales = inferior product, OR no more band.

Buy the CD's folks. Trust me.

How about Buy The CD, Buy Concert Tickets, Buy The Shirt? I think that's the plan for most people around here.

But it's entirely beside the point. The point is that even though it shouldn't have been (and that's another issue entirely), the album got leaked to t3h int4rw3bz and a bunch of people simply don't respect the band's wishes enough to NOT TALK ABOUT LEAKS ON THE OFFICIAL BAND FORUM after being told not. We were all told that, before a leak even became an issue. I have no sympathy whatsoever for those who've ignored that simple request and been bludgeoned by the BanHammer of Samsara; it's like they're trying to get the forum shut down.

Idiots.

I think "Bludgeoned by the BanHammer of Samsara" sounds pretty fucking metal, and I wasn't even trying...

And how would you prevent fans of Opeth coming on the forums for the first time in a while, all riled up by the new album/finding it on the net, and starting to discuss? I don't know about you, but I don't think a everyone who comes here is going to dig through the forums for what "everyone" was told.

Idiot. :Saint:

but I don't think a everyone who comes here is going to dig through the forums for what "everyone" was told.

An "announcement" or "sticky" thread with a simple subject line (ie: "talking about leaked songs gets you banned") should pretty well cover that issue. Why that wasn't done by the mods isn't something I'm clear on, but it would take away pretty much any n00b excuse other than "not paying attention" and "basic illiteracy" since it'd be one of the first things on the page when you enter the forum. Seems to work pretty well on a bunch of other forums though...

Illiterate people on the internet is a whole 'nother issue, and it can't all be blamed on AOL like "we" did ten years ago.

I have a feeling someone linked to Opeth did the link so everybody could have a preview, but not leak out the hidden songs, so you would buy it. And I have a feeling it was someone on the record company.
