All the other kids are doing it...

How does that song compare to the rest of the album?

Well, I did choose my favorite song on the album, but really, there are many strong songs on the album (thus its inclusion in my top 10). The song is representative of the album on the whole, if that's what you're asking.

What did you think of it?

edit: ha ha, didn't read Moose's reply before I posted. What was that about "great minds..." :loco:

All these lists make me want to do one but I think I'd have to do a top 20 or I'd have an aneurysm from having to decide on only 10. :yell:

this is why I didn't number anything.

Besides, having to number everything is silly... It's just not practically possible with the volume of music that we all go through. The year end list, if one decides to make one, should be entirely for fun and not a frustrating chore.

Good attitude.

I just went w/ 10 because it's typical and I'm used to it. But I could've easily listed 30 albums I enjoyed from 2005.

I thought it sounded great. I was just curious if the rest of the album sounded similar, also had cool acoustic bits like that, and kept that same level of quality.

Cool, in that case I highly recommend you get it at some point.

May I also recommend the new Dusk "Carpathian Darkness" album on Regimental Records. Fucking BAD ASS. Would've easily made my list had I bought/heard it prior to just this week.

"Moonsorrow - Verisakeet
This was my top album of 2005 up until I heard the new Solstafir, and now I can't decide. This album is a serious slab of epic, HEAVY METAL. I would say that it rivals some of my old time favorites, such as Hvis Lyset Tar Oss by Burzum. Powerful album."

Moonsorrow's currently in my top 5 at least, so I agree. The thing about Solstafir was that I was all excited to go check them out, and then someone said they were "viking metal meets NEUROSIS" and I vomited all over my lap. Then Erik posted some MP3's for 10 minutes which I missed, so I went to their website but they don't post MP3's so I thought fuck it all.
