Alright liberals, spin this one (Iran content)

fucking americans. :p

sorry, just oompa-loompa-ing for NAD. I avoid political discussions like the plague. At least when its text based and not in person.

I still don't see how you can say that.

Forgetting the U.S. for just a second, since I have no problem admitting that we bully other nations and don't hold ourselves to the same standards (often, not always, but often), but really, how can you POSSIBLY fucking say that it's cool for half-cocked, insanely erratic and most importantly, DANGEROUS nations to have the ability to own/use these weapons?

I mean, it's not like the U.K. threatens Norway for no good fucking reason every other goddamned day.

You sadden me NAD.

You're putting words in my mouth, I never said I WANTED a country like North Korea or Iran to have nuclear weapons, because the fact of the matter is, I wished that NOBODY had such weapons! Shit dude, I'd be totally cool with it if even BB-guns disappeared off the face of the planet tomorrow.

But look, that's a pipe dream. Here's the reality of the situation. The superpowers of the world have weapons and lots of them. Now when you have the UN, or the US, or Britain, or NATO, or whoever that has somehow elected itself to be the moral authority over who gets how many bullets, I can't blame somewhere like Iran saying "fuck this, we need some weapons otherwise we're gonna get our shit ruined just like Iraq." Do I WANT them to get these weapons? No! But the hypocrisy behind such a decision is sickening.

This has merely been a test to see if the pantywaists could come up with some way of spinning this so that the U.S. is in the wrong here.
I read the article, and I have no problem with referring Iran to the U.N. Security Counsil. However, your tone and your subject line seems to suggest that you have a problem with the way "liberals" have "spun" what has happened in Iraq. That would be ironic, since conservatives have been spinning (and by spinning, I mean lying) about the Iraq war since before it started.

Zod

C'mon Zodster, you know the subject line has to be inflammatory to get the thread some momentum.

Oh the irony :Smokedev:

I understand your point (and I know when you use the word "dude" and spell everything properly that you're no longer fucking around, lol), but really, truth be told, I'm ok with a little hypocrisy given the alternatives.

Understood. I of course disagree, but hey, maybe you're right. :loco:

I hope I am; the U.S. may not think things through very well (at least with this current admin), but really, there's never been a real chance of us using OUR WMD to annihilate an entire nation or try to. Not in modern times at least. No one wants to give the U.S. any credit for exercising restraint, but whether you (or anyone) wants to admit it, they/we do, every day.

These places like N.Korea, Iran, maybe Iraq? Fuck man, they don't have that "stop" button.

I'm waiting for Duhbya's last day in office, I get the feeling he's just gonna snap and say "I cain't take them riceniggers no mo'!" and then bomb Kenya because he couldn't figure out his Atlas. But yeah, WWII man. Harsh.

But look, as much as I damn the US, I'm still here. Provided I'm always able to bitch about how much I hate the policies, I'll be at least relatively okay with it. :Spin:

yeah, WW2 kinda isn't relavent since the japanese did attack the US first, and it was a surprise attack. They also almost had a working nuke themselves.

It's not relevant because it was 60 years ago. The world has changed more in the past 60 years than it did in the 1,945 before it.

freedom is on the march, guys.

Iraq is now cosy with Iran.
Hamas won the election in palestine.

ah, it was only scant months ago, dudes, that we were being told that the little brown people would welcome us into iraq with strewn rose petals, and there would be a statue of George W. Bush in Baghdad's square (I can't remember if it was Feith or whoever who came up with that hallucination).

All the brown countries were then supposed to look at Iraq and say, "Ibrahim, look at teh wonderful democracy!" and then they'd all become democracies themselves and we would all tra la la into history locked in a passionate embrace.

Wrong.

Bush is going to go down as one of the worst. presidents. evar.

but not just for Iraq. for his medicare "reform" that only benefits prescription companies. for his coddling of saudi arabia. for his slashing educational benefits. for his sphincter being stretched by oil company cock.

fuck iran, and fuck n. korea. but if we try something with either one of those, we'd better get alot more help than we got for this Iraq boondoggle, cause our army is stretched to the breaking point right now. the enlistment age has been bumped up to fucking FORTY years old because we can't meet enlistment quotas, and we're already using national guard and reserve units in addition to regular army and marines.

plus, iran may not have nuclear weapons...but N. Korea does. and they have an army that is so fucking huge that any sane person would think at least a few times before an attack.
