Am I the only guy who hates Ibanez?

Man am i glad i bought an LTD H-400 instead of an Ibanez. The LTD is just so fucking sweet and it plays like a dream!

I hate Ibanez for all its worth. The shittest guitars I ever played. Why would you ever buy an Ibanez when you can get twice the quailty for the same money in something like and ESP.

I had a 90's RG550, in that ugly yellow finish, you know, ibz pickups and maple neck.
It played great, but it wasn't giving me any "huge" sounds, so I changed the pickups to a Tone Zone and a Paf Pro if I remember correctly.
That didn't worked either
Since I was dead broke and couldn't afford a good looking guitar, I sanded the guitar  and I saw 3 pieces of different grained woods glued together, forming something that could be called "body".
The floyd rose bridge posts broke after 3 years ( well, the wood around them), and I got rid of that piece of crap, I sold the neck to a friend and put the "body" on the garbage can...I can't look seriously to a Ibanez guitar since.

Sounds like you guys all played the shitty low end guitars. Music stores don't stock the good ones. My Sabre sounds phenominal, gison-ish with a little more bite to it. The USA made Prestige series are really good too. Metal's tough to record, alot of Ibanez's are more built for soloing than metal rhythm, they're made out of basswood because it's cheap and light. Look at the history too. Ibanez got famous building copies that were better than the originals. But now companies are cranking out lowend budget guitars because they sell more than a siganture guitar.

Those are the shitty 550's. One of the Floyd posts broke on my 7620 too, Nice for a $1000 axe huh? I'm not trying to get defensive, just that you have to know which Ibanez's are the good one's. All their lowend stuff is utter shit. but alot of companies are doing it now, Gibson and the more smaller companies seem stay more away from the Mcdonald's way of guitar making. I'm dying to get a Caparison and new Explorer(R.I.P. my baby). My RR1 kicks ass too.

Even for their high-end 'good stuff' I can be happier with a $600 Schecter (or three!).

Gah, I hate Ibanez. I want to play baseball bats with fucking dinner tables sticking out the back of them - none of this super-contoured magazine-thick basswood bullshit (basswood can even sound decent if you've enough of it and you haven't decided to make it into a painted sheet of paper, I like a Dean ML XT that I got for $150 more than the $1749 Ibanez WD-40 that I played at Guitar Center the other day) and a neck thinner than my wrist. On top of that, the work it takes to find a legit Floyd these days (more Ibanez than anything else, but most guitars have this bullshit) makes me want to die. Christonabicycle trems are shit these days - why doesn't anyone know what a fucking Kahler is anymore? Life would be so much easier if it weren't for cheap-shit knockoff trems, 'sleek, sexy, contoured' cardboard boxes with finish, and kitchen magnet pickups on 95% of axes in music stores.

I love my Ibanez guitars. I have an RG and an Artcore. I am considering getting another RG with a fixed bridge or an ESP when I get some cash. On the topic of not getting a good rhythm tone out of them...I don't know if Darkane records the Ibanez for leads and rhythms or just leads...but I love the guitar tone on their albums. I am pretty sure though that on the Non-Human Level stuff he used an Ibanez, but I may be mistaken.

I guess I'm the guy who gets the Ibanez endorsment out of the thread.
Come on, Team J Craft, give me a call! Nah, if all you Ibanez bashing fuckers wanna see some porn, check out Kirk's guitar solo on the binge and purge DVD. He destroys an RG. Fuck you guys.

yep...
i agree with oz
ibanez are absolute dog shit
everyone i've tried to record either sounds like a cat scratching a blackboard or just has the mushiest lame bottom end ever. nasty nasty guitars.

the basses are gash. no matter what you do they just wont sit in a mix.

Plug in a Gibson Fender or esp and voila... OH it sounds good

A-fucking-men! :worship:

i think there is 1 thing you shouldn't forget: in the 70's ibanez made really good guitars. i also hate MODERN ibanez guitars but one of the best sounding guitars i've ever recorded was an early 70's ibanez les paul DC.
I'm glad i bought a gibson les paul standard, since i have it it has been used on almost every recording i've done. no more thin, fizzy ibanezes here:)

Does anyone own a Prestige model? I have an RG1570 Prestige model. It has the new floyd system. I swear to god, that thing has a "magical" fucking resonance to it! The kind we're you can play unplugged, and you can feel the resonance move from the guitar to your body. No shit. I think they made my guitar with magical elve luthiers!:heh:

perhaps i'm spoiled but doesn't that do every even mediocre guitar?
at least all my axes do that, I've never comsidered that being something special......
for ibanez it perhaps is then.. ;)

i guess you're just lucky and got an ibanez on which they used wood that's better than the one you usually use for the handle of a kid's toy-shovel....

My Schecter C1 also does that :)
The Prestige models were all I played of Ibanez, and that's what I've based my opinions of them on. Though, Chris Broderick and Marty Friedman manage to get some nice tones out of them.

It's close to a Fernandez Sustainer type resonance. Not that extreme, but I can really get single notes to sing with it. It's a cool vibe, that I don't get with any other axe. I can't put this guitar down. I've got to have a Prestige with a set neck though!
