This is quite possibly the most ridiculous thread on RC since its inception. And that includes all my crackpot consciousness jargon and NAD's discussion of spice racks

Yes, but anything that brings countries together is good for them. Thats their only relevance. But nobody in this thread was saying "because you don't like socker your isolationists".
did i completely misread 4 pages of JK's argument? :Smug:

i understand he's not trying to foster anti-americanism, but, um, he is. and i don't like being categorized as some kind of international douchebag because i can't be arsed to support something i care nothing about. i don't even like being categorized as an american in the first place.

I think you did Cthulu. He's just using the soccer thing as an example to demonstrate a point. Or maybe I'm wrong, but thats how I'm looking at it.

and I don't think this thread would have been as ridiculous if it wasn't for the whole sports aspect. :p

Totally.

If countries can unite on ANY level, I'm all for it.

Whether it be sport, music, porn, whatever. :tickled:

Suggesting that America prefers to stay on it's own course is hardly "anti-American" and something I'm AMAZED that people are even denying.

Anyway, I don't give a fuck (and neither do you) and this thread has run its course. I'm offering numerous avenues, but instead, I'll celebrate England's victory today. :kickass:

The beauty of the right to left scripture of the holiest book of holy books the Kuran is all they need to feast their eyes upon.

That... and the bomb assembly manual they received from their cell leader.

I know not all americans are like the ones that travel up here. I happen to be very good friends with a number of you, and know of many more who aren't like that either. That said, MANY, and the culture as a whole, is as we say it.
I disagree with the idea that you can sterotype people based on where they were born. I think in the case of America, it's even more difficult, as it truly is a melting pot.

i agree that america, for its entire history, has had something of an attitude problem in regards to the rest of the world. i would just say, this discussion--especially considering that soccer is a sport that inspires so much nationalism--fosters more partisanship than goodwill. out of all the things america can and should be taken to task for, lack of soccer appreciation doesn't even register on the scale :p

Why is American patriotism looked at so badly by so many people that = SEIG HEIL VIKING PRIDE WORLD WIDE WHITE PRIDE THIS OR THAT OR THE OTHER.

America does it's own thing, when it comes to everything, and thats why we rule. We arn't trend fags like the rest of the world.

dude think for a minute, it isn't patriotism that rubs people the wrong way, it's when it crosses the line into arrogance.
it really is no different than why so many people dislike France's haughty ways (sorry Dev)
