Yeah, I listed steroids and hormone injected foods as two different items. One explains the recognized cheating that takes place in US sports, and the other explains the obescity levels. Essentially you're talking about fat black sumo wrestlers running around with helmets on, wired to the nth degree. :tickled:

There is SO much wrong with that post, Im not even gonna start. lol

I assume it was tongue-in-cheek. At least I hope. :)

dorian -- stop being so fucking antagonistic. This thread exists so that those of you not interested in the world cup can leave that thread well alone and live here happily ever after.
Pot, kettle... kettle, pot.

You're giving someone else shit for being antagonistic? Look at the title of your thread. This thread exists for the sole purpose of antagonizing people who believe that all four limbs should be used during sporting events.

The world is a stage, and the Americans are on the outside looking in, just like everything else in life.
I won't comment on the last part, since I have no idea what you're trying to hint at. However, the first part of your comment is as silly as saying Europeans are on the outside looking in regarding baseball, football and basketball. How can we be on the outside looking in, when we're not even looking? No one in this country cares about the World Cup. I listen to the most popular sports talk show in NY, and if they spent five minutes on the World Cup, they spent a lot.

Yeah well he was being a cunt. Read his posts.

Actually, this thread was spawned out of some of you trolling the world cup thread so feel free to use this thread to talk about your own sports (since you're not willing to start your own threads about it, I thought I'd start one for you).

How can we be on the outside looking in, when we're not even looking?

I rest my case.

I'll take that as "ITT: I've been pwned".

Meanwhile, you've contributed NOTHING.

So instead of just nitpicking everyone of my posts, why not add something, jeeeesus H? Or are we just going to hover around other people's conversations all night long? :tickled:

Seriously, feel free to start a new thread or whatever.

It's not worth my time bro. How have I been "pwned?" lol I'm just voicing my opinion on your blatant ignorance.

You may not agree with what I have to say but you better fucing fight to your death my right to voice it! :loco:

But we didn't want to talk about American sports, we wanted to troll the World Cup thread.:heh:

In all seriousness, if your resting your case, than I'm not sure I understand what it was. This last comment seems to suggest that America should be interested in the World Cup and is some how flawed because we're not. Hockey and basketball have their finals going on, baseball is in full gear, football is reporting to camp, and the US Open is about to start. Our plate is full.

That's the thing, why is it that ONLY Americans aren't getting it?

When you dismiss global events and international sporting platforms, you isolate yourselves even further. Again, this has nothing to do with the physicallity of the sport, it's more to do with your insistence that the rest of the world doesn't exist or is irrelevant.

Be that as it may, it's the American-born perogative (provided you're willing to take the backlash of course), but pleeeease stop wondering why the rest of the world dimisses you right back. Don't you even realize that you have your own countrymen in the world cup??? 5.8 billion people watching the tournament and they could do with your support. At least take pride in the nation's offering.

Seriously, at least during tournaments, sport should bring the world together. :headbang:

I couldn't even guess. Given the country's European ancestry, it's strange that soccer isn't popular. But it is what it is, and it isn't going to change.

See, this is where your logic loses me. Are we suppose to force ourselves to like it, or are we supposed to endure it even though we don't like it? You seem to infer that this "dismissal" is some sort of intentional slap in the face. In truth, it's nothing more than we find soccer boring.

Do they? What about us have they dismissed?

Realize? Yes. Care? No.

Is me flipping on the TV somehow going to impart some magical motivation to American soccer players on the other side of the globe?

Pride in what, getting our asses kicked by the Czechs?

I agree. Put together some European baseball teams and come on over.:loco:

USA = 250 million people (not including illegals)

Rest of world = 5.8 billion people

I don't think the party is happening much in the US...you may want to get yourselves a passport and venture forth. :loco:

But seriously, the world will just carry on as always, with the US in total exclusion by its own choosing. You don't question the weirdness that the US invented these sports that nobody else plays??? It's not even as if you have history on your side.

American sports = Australian animal kingdom :loco: haha (really laughing) ->

I believe the easiest way to describe this would be...

they've dismissed the USA as being anything other than a gigantic bully on the playground. Except this bully has no real friends, people pretend to be his friends so he doesn't pound them flat, but in the end, he's alone.

Now... you americans will go pfff and psssht and call me retarded, gay, lieing or just simply not care.

But in the end, thats the short and sweet of it.

You're not really going to use this as the crux of your arguement, are you? Because if more equals better:

Brittany Spears "...Baby one more Time" = 28,000,000 copies sold worldwide
Agalloch "The Mantle" = 38 copies sold worldwide (22 of them to RC forum members)

Probably not, because you guys are total fraidy cats and won't play us in baseball.

Once again, I don't get why your tone suggests you feel insulted that we doesn't like soccer. I can assure you, there's nothing machiavellian about it. We haven't collectively chosen to be bored by soccer just to thumb our noses at the rest of the world.

I'd watch soccer if I couldn't sleep. It's funny how simple-sounding non-Americans make American sports sounds (ie - bouncing a ball, throwing a pigskin), when all soccer is is dudes kicking a ball around and maybe seeing a score 4 times in a game, all the while the damn commentators can't stop talking about Posh Spice.

As far as Rugby and football, I really dont care for either. But to say that American football is weak because of pads, well....I guess ignorance is bliss.
