an important musical lesson i have learned

I'll take this opportunity to ask about bass stuff.

I'm really in the market for a new bass and I'm not sure where to start. Help! Like $1000-$1300 price range.

Ah, nevermind. I've been looking through the FAQs and I found out about the costs. Maybe I'll eventually get around to trying something.

Since my bass shopping is fairly recent I probably can help you. What do your like? What do you play? You do slap? Etc.

More info = better advice :)

Oh mindspell - the one thing I forgot to mention was that I think the Orange Squeezer wants germanium diodes - I think NTE still makes them, but if you have any trouble finding them through mouser.com or whatever, steve at www.smallbearelec.com sells NOS ge diodes which worked great in my orange squeezer.

If you can find all the parts there, I highly recommend ordering through SmallBear. He only stocks parts for pedals, so you know you won't end up with a 6" tall capacitor cause you didn't read the pdf description correctly. Until you know the dimensions, etc. of the parts for pedal building its really easy to get confused and fuck up looking through mouser's catalog. Plus, smallbear will have lots of parts there are harder to find...like NOS germanium transistors, audio-specific ICs, etc. On some things he's *slightly* pricier, like resistors (but only by like $.01 a resistor) but then some things he's much much cheaper on. Stomp switches for example cost like 4 or 5 times as much in small quantities from mouser, and smallbear is like 25 or 50 cents cheaper on pots.

Falsetodd: Yeah I saw smallbear's website. I will probably order a few things from him (like the stomp switch and custom knobs to make them cool. However, the customs problem bugs me a bit for all the components, I know a few electronics parts distributors in canada so I will mainly use them for hassle and monetary reasons. I have the mouser part numbers of the stuff that I need so I will take that as a reference.

Firedwarf: Replied!
