I thought Donnie Darko was highly overrated, but still a pretty good movie. Some fool on BCO just posted a line like "Donnie Darko is the best sci-fi movie to come out in the past twenty years" and I just thought "HAHA OK WHATEVER". Just because we identify with characters and situations in it doesn't make it a great movie. The dialogue sucked in a lot of parts--didn't have verisimilitude--and there were some not-so-good directorial decisions.

But I would certainly recommend seeing it. It was good and interesting and cool.

i just watched old school last night and thought it was a little lacking. some of the stuff was really funny but it seemed like it tried to do too much at times, and the flow suffered a bit. it was a lot more animal house-based than i thought it would be.

still, some of the material was amazing, and vince vaughan was surprising. will ferrell does have some weird sort of way of making the smallest bits hilarious though. just the look on his face when he says stuff is great.
